I just bought a dual sported KLX 450R and love it. It's the first dirtbike ive ridden in 20 years so it's a handful but i'm getting used to it. Nice pictures.
Was it an older bike that was previously dual-sported, or did you buy a new one & jump thru the hoops to make it street legal?

P.S. Welcome to DSBC!

It's an 08 that was dual sported by the original owner so it was already registered. I had no problem getting insurance.

Welcome to the Green side:)I have had a great time riding my dual sported KLX450R this year. My winter plans include a stator upgrade to keep the e-start going through a days riding and a larger gas tank. Other than that I have been delighted with my choice of machine.

I have the same issue with the e-start. Gotta use the kickstart by the end of the day if i shut it off too often. Love the bike other than that!

I used to have a battery issue but after replacing it with an aftermarket replacement it seems to work way better than the OEM... I never have a dead battery since and I went all summer without a charge..But I think I have mine tuned pretty good. It starts 90% of the time in 1 -3 seconds, as soon as the button is pushed it lights...a few times it needed about 5 seconds but that was after a tip over...

I put in an adjustable fuel screw and that allows me to fine tune the idle mixture so it will start and run well.....It makes quite a difference.

I get 200-240kms to a tank....never ran out ...got to over 210 before I went to reserve once...I was going to get a large tank but the bike gets great milage...

The other biggest improvment was a rear spring...RMR measured the stock and it is for a 135lb rider.....after putting in the correct one the bike totally changed in the smoothness of the ride, and the steering,,,,,I have had it out on a MX track even! and handles great!

That's a great looking bike you have...I would say that I am jealous, but my TW would hear me...

Regarding the starting issues, since switching to an Iridium plug, my TW starts within one or two cranks every time! Before that, it was really hit or miss when cold......or hot.

I had the larger tank on my bike (ims) and found I did not like it. It was like having a basketball between the shrouds. I rode it like that for a year, then realized that I never rode more than 120k (what I get before reserve) without passing a gas station. I switched back and am way happier. Now I have a really expensive wall ornament. oh well,if I ever plan a long ride it is easy to change over.

Would this be the same one that is listed on the Valley Motorsports (or whatever its called) website in Kelowna? Did you buy that bike and they haven't updated it or is it back up for sale?
