What a fun day of hard trails.

Next time i'll bring energy food with me because after a couple hours of riding and some steep slippery rocky trails, my legs and arms were like rubber anddrained of energy.

Thanks to everyone. Can't wait for some more sunny weekends..

I actually wanted to know if the Florence Lake Road near Stave Lake is quiet in the morning???

I was on the road yesterday (Sunday)at about 1pmand it was a gong show. I am training my old lady to rideon the gravel and it isproving to be a challenge.

I am looking for a place within 2 hours ride of White Rock. The other challenge is that her bike only does 90 kmh.

All suggestions appreciated.

I was at the old standby yesterday; Stokes Pit, it was quite easy getting in yesterday, they keep changing the access, but people keep coming up with new way of getting in. If at anytime you want to go, PM me.

I have two big challenges to deal with when I have been invited to ride with some of you, who I must sayhave been great in responding to my posts.

Riding the gsa (BMW R 1200 GS Adventure)means I cannot really tackle some of those small goat trails you guys surf, and my second draw back is I am trying to bring my girlfriend up to speed in off road riding skills.

This means my average speed off road with her in towis about 10 kph. It is a bit difficult for me to convey riding techniqueand there are limited facilities to train people interested in off road riding.

It would be great if someone would have a real off road riding clinic here in the spring. I have as yet to find anything like this in the lowermainland.

We did see a few guys come out of the bush at Dewdney Trunk Sunday and I stayed low as my parole officer did not want me to corrupt those nice Dualsport fellows.

I apologise for not chatting but we had to get going. I am very optimistic that I will have her up to good road speed by months end if the weather holds.

I think we are going to try Sylvester Road next in hopes of a bit less traffic. Once again thanks I look forward to meeting some of you next time I stop on the road.

I went up Florence lake road a few kms off of the main road to the mud flats and only passed a few vehicles. Perhaps I missed the traffic as I was there bout 1:30 or so.

I am new to this too so I will be looking to cut my teeth on some of the local roads and trails before I attempt some of the riding shown in the photos.

How busy is the top of Sylvester road? I have been up to the end on my road bike several times and it looks to be a fairly popular spot.

Thanks everyone for a great ride! Some of those trails were quite a bit more than I would normally have attempted and I appreciated all the help with keeping my bike upright.

Thanks also to Jon and Chris for the ride up into some of the spurs off West Harrison after Al and Kerry had to head back. Too bad that route to hemlock was so overgrown; it looked so promising on the gps! I guess my 15 year old maps aren't always that reliable. :p

It was fun to shuffle bikes there at the end, too. Riding Jon's XR-650L made me realize how low the pegs are on my KLR and how much of a difference it makes to have some distance between my ass and the seat. I wonder if there's anything to be done about that.

Nice job on the video, Al!

I had a great time riding with all you guys and wish that I had been able to continue to the end.

I did manage to make a video of the parts that I was fortunate enough to be on though.

skidmark you also have much to learnabout log crossings. Remember, wet log = perpendicular.

Thanks Lev.

If only you'd been there to show me and the other 10 riders that fell there how it's done.

OUCH, still a little testy after the abuse on Sunday? You are right, I don't think any of us can say we kept it on two wheels the whole day, lucky for me Kerry wasn't watching when I was taking soil samples. :hr:

Ha! Great video, Kerry. Thanks for giving me the honour of the closing, ridiculous-looking wipeout. :p

I think that was the one that tweaked my steering, actually, and there's no longer any question that it got tweaked. I'm going to see how close to true I can get it by loosening the fork tube clamps but I'd like to take you up on your offer of the fork-truing device at some point.
