Gold Bridge to Gang Ranch

We are hoping to head from Gold Bridge N up Tyaughton, Mud, Gaspard Churn Creek Roads to Gang Ranch on 650's. Any info? Is there a better route? Thanks.

What is your fuel range Dr. Suzy? Hwy 20 would be the next gas station I think. I would think you'd need 200 kms + range to do that ride. I'm keen to do the same ride sometime, I hope you update this post and get to ride it. A friend owns a logging company that works the area and last summer said there had been much road development/improvement once you're through Mud Lakes, bridges even, but that fuel range would be the issue. Good luck.

Good point. We'll be carrying extra gas but should be okay with the 240 km approx. range on the Suzuki in those conditions. In a pinch I'm sure we could gas up at Gang Ranch even though they don't have a proper gas station. They are nice folks in there. I'll post the conditions of this route in the fall as we're not going until September.

Reza, as mentioned, its relatively easy/smooth until you reach Mud Lakes, and then its gets challenging (and thats if the giant puddle of doom doesnt swallow you).

If you recall the ride we did together some time ago - once past Tyax - you can connect to the Marshall Lake FSR, which will connect to Carpenter Lake road (which is where we left your bike  once the sidewall blew out). You can even skip going up to Tyax, and stay on Carpenter Lake road, then up over/the Mission Pass, or on to Lillooet.

Did the annual loop a few weeks ago, with a few new bits; Hurley to Braelorne to Gun Lake to Tyax, to NoAxe, through Marshall Lake, up over the pass, to Highline, to D'arcy, to Pemby - and then home. I'd like to go back and explore the Gun Lake area, as we found endless criss crossing trails that need exploring!

Can echo the comments about smooth sailing till Mud Lakes, tried to get up the hill at the north end of the lakes without success. Was on a heavily loaded F650 along with few F800’s so maybe no surprise. Plan to try it again this year on smaller bikes with full knobbies and push through to Chilco. Like to get a road update if anyone goes through.

Our trip was a few years ago and don’t remember any water hazard, maybe a new feature? We did make it to Chilco but via hwy 20 at Lees Corner. Was pretty easy ride in from there.

Interested as well for the section past Mud Lake.
When I was up last year in July it was super muddy and high water level on the road by the lakes.
and as everyone says thanks to the beaver dam the water level stays high most of the time so its always best to wait for late summer to try to go through (Thanks Russ for the wisdom!)

Planning to link to Poison Mtn past Mud lake for a ride in August

Ah, now remember the spot, think we were lucky both times we were in the area, the water was low. I’ll plan our next visit for late Aug.

The "puddle of doom" is as @Alex@bushpigperformance described - a huge puddle that covers the road near the Churn creek crossing, a few kms before the hill climbs. Here's a video of another group of explorers showing the "puddle" (@ 2:37), and about 30 secs later 3:08, a section of the hill climbs:
Thanks for the video! Look like the same I've seen from 4x4 trip! If it isn't deeper and too soft, that should be manageable as well as the hill climb.
I've planned the route for a Double Double (Poison and China peaks), going on early August, will do a report after!

I camped at Mud lake this past Sat eve July 5 just to get outside. Talked to several groups coming out of Swartz/Poison direction on trail bikes were soaked - creek crossings still very high. One guy said his buddies bike got swept away and they had to remove top end to drain it. Puddle of doom still in play but but he was on a 250 2 stroke. Need a week or 2 of no rain.
