Does anybody have the Garmin GPSMAP 60? If so, is the basemap it comes loaded with adequate or do you need something extra? Anybody else feel free to comment on their GPS's because there are so many out there it's hard to know what to look at!

Hello Rusty:

I've got a Rino 130. It has all the nice things that come with any GPS. It is also an FRS and a GMRS two way radio. Very handy. You can purchase and download Topo Maps for this unit. They show every trail and detail you can imagine. Comes with a pretty good base map, has crumb trail capabilities and weather reports that will alert you to storm watches and warnings. It's waterproof too.

I used a RAM mount for the Rino and it works perfectly.

Read more at http://www.gpscentral.ca/products/garmin/rino130.htm Poke into the accessories page to view a bunch of stuff you may want to spend your coin on.

You will be impressed.

I have a GPSMAP 60C

the base map looks ok if your in the states.

But for us here in the North, well if you can get around on major roads like Hwy 1, 7 and 99 you will do just fine

but for the side streets forget it

I got myself the topo canada and its great
