I have had my 08 610TE for a year and I have just over 11,000 km on it.

The bike has been a blast and it's been great for 600 plus km a day rides. It's got the power up kit on it, but it had more than enough power with out it.

So far it's been trouble free and I am very happy with it.

Hi Fellow Riders,

I wasn't going to Post anything about this, ....but after talking to Friends here is a watered-down Post. And by Posting this, it allows me to let it go and put it behind me and not to have anymore ill feelings.

Well, about two weeks after I started this thread, something bad happened to my Bike.

It had nothing to do with the manufacture of the Bike or the quality. Husky's are great Bikes! It was, what some-one / some placehad done toit.Aplace that I paid to work on my Bike.

Right now the Bike is at a Dealer who knows whattheyare doing. And I can't believe what they have found. It really makes me sad. Not just the money it's going to cost me, but the loss of trust. I really trusted the last shop. :(

My point is, please be careful who you have working on your Bike. It can end up costing you a lot of money later and not having the Bike to ride, like me.

Sincerely

Rick

Rickster, what happened? If there's a shop to avoid for service work I'd like to know about it. I do't think there's anything wrong with posting your story -- people can make up their own minds & draw their own conclusions.

The Shop is a site Sponsor, so I don'twant to mention their name and have my Post Deleted or get myself banned. :( But I still want to warn my Fellow Riders.

An Oil Line was broken, Micky Moused and rerouted and kinked to crap. This resulted in my top-end starving for oil. I couldn't see this, because the gas tank hid it. They could of replaced it and / or even Billed me for it, but they didn't. So I rode the Bike unaware of this Time Bomb.

I broughtthe Bike back into the shop in late August because of a lot of top-end noise. They looked at it and found a failed needle bearing and said the cam had a worn spot. The Bike still made the top end noise, but I was told that the Bike was safe to ride and billed $287:84. Well I took the Bike home and parked it.

Thenew Husky Dealer has the Bike now and spotted the Oil line problem right away.

The other shop was the only one to touchmy Bike from day one. I did notice at one point that the Oil line was in different spot, but I though nothing of it. I couldn't see the part of the line that was hidden under tank. And I trusted them to work on my Bike. (Other things also happened, but this was the most costly.)

I did try contacted them about this, but got no reply. I would just like to leave it at that.

Thanks

Rick

On a plus note, the new Huskies look sweet. :dr:

Rick, I am sorry to hear about the Husky and hope that it get's fixed up properly. I go to great lengths to research any maintenance or repairs that my bike might need, for me a dealer is a last resort. I like that I can save some cash and also get to know my bike a bit more intimately.

I have nothing against dealers, I am sure that most are honest hardworking folks just like us, I just like to know exactly what has been done to my bike.

First, thanks for the update. I'm currently debating getting a Husky (610SM) and this kind of info is important IMO.

Second, I think that not being able to post a negative experience with a site sponsor is crap. Isn't this site here so that we can share info and make the DS experience better for everyone? Isn't honest and accurate feedback part of that?

No shop is ever going to make 100% of customers happy, but honest feedback should be allowed and encouraged.

I agree. I was going to take my SM610 to one of the shops for a 'before riding season' tuneup and info like this would be good to know.

From re-reading your post, your bike is now at the 'new Husky store', which I'm assuming is Pacific Yamaha BMW, so this is the store that identified the kinked oil line?

Take this with a grain of salt, OK? The following is my humble opinion... site n00b, etc.

I think it's in the best interest of the site members to be aware of negligent service, even if it is a sponsor. If there is no repercussion to the shop, they will be less inclined totake responsible action and replace the bad mechanics.

I guess it's a tricky issue where support is involved. However, I for one (am I alone? ...doubtful) would like to know if I need to be wary of a shop shop rather than walking in blind. I findplaces like DSBC invaluable for this very reason - the sheer power of letting everyone know when something's not right.

To me it doesn't seem fair to expect someone else to hide your incompetence because ofa donation. It DOES seem fair that a shop will keep the customer's best interest primary in it's mandate, and continue working to gain - or re-gain - their trust. After all, our continued support is their bread and butter.

I don't want to step on toes here, it's just how I feel.

I don't know where you got the information that no one is allowed to post a negative comment about a sponsor?

WE DO HAVE A FEWGUIDLINES :ted:

1 First hand information only, no that doesn't include your deceaseduncle who had a problem with a dealer 15 years ago

2 Must be recent, see above

3 Must post all the details, no mater how small. Because our sponsors support us I feel it is our duty to make sure the information is correct. When a negative post is brought to our attention I make sure the sponsor is aware of it and I ask them if they want to supply any details.

4 Before posting your negative comment you should have attempted to contact the sponsor to resolve the problem first (this is not required but it goes a long way to resolution)

[line]

Everyone on this site is a grown up and will be treated like one. Please remember that when you decide to flame a sponsor that you take up a lot of other DSBC members valuable time ( I prefer riding to replying). I understand that at 10 pm at night when you cant get in contact with the dealer and he has really pissed you off that you may post something negative, it happens. When threads get deleted or closed it is usually with the posters knowledge and hopefully agreement.

Please feel free to PM me about these simple rules like-em or hate-em

Well, here's the scoop.

This shop does not answer their phone, so I sent them an e-mail which they say is their "perferred method of contact". I waited for six days, got no reply and posted.

I guess I can try sending them a registered letter.

I could drive over and walk in the shop. But when I last left the shop in August I swore I would never go in their again, becaused I strongly felt I that something was not right. Well now I have proof. And to be honest, I think it would end badly if I went over there.

I want to support local shops and I do. I really don't like posting this.

Rick we all know this shop, you don't have to name it. By deductive reasoning we can all figure it out by now.

I'm frankly surprised DSBC admins should really disassociate themselves and drop him asa sponsor. Most of the Husky owner have learned their lesson the hard way, including me. How long are we going to defend this shop.

Yeah this shop use to get a lot of praise, especially on the local 'sportbike' forum. Guess over recent months business has gone downhill.

Similar experience. I have cash ready to go! The shop is advertising the bike that I want. I don't live in the Lower Mainland and am unable to visit the dealership in Richmond directly. Since March 5th I've emailed, left two voice mails and then I finally spoke to someone who answered this last Wednesday morning. He wasn't able to provide any sales information and told me the owner would call me back within one hour as he was just taking his kids to school. Still no reply. As someone in the service/retail industry and knowing how hard business is these days, I am blown away that some business's can stay afloat.
