Hand Air pump for the Motorcycle.

Hi,

I was wonder if anyone knows of a good Manual Air pump to carry on the Bike.

I did have an Electric one, it got smashed when I dumped the Bike once. I have been carrying a small foot pump for years. I went to use it at home last week to see if it works and it doesn't. Anyways I am looking for a good manual pump.

Thanks

i went to the local mtn bike shop and bought a good high volume aluminum body pump for approx $35. They all have names that rhyme with schintzel and spegel and stuff like that. just ask for a good quality pump, and pull out yur wallet. They are greenie's -they like that green stuff! after travelling baja for years armed with nothing more than a $4 plastic piece of crap pump, made in a far of land, with quality controls to rival the scud missile program, i decided it was about time, i sprung for a pump that would actually pump when i needed it to. best money i have spent in a long time!

Thanks.

I like your scud missile comparison. My small foot pump was like that. When using it, I could feel the pain of the 8 year old that made it in some sweat shop.

My first experience with CO2 wasn't the best. Did a patch on front tire which failed and I was out of CO2, of course I was a noob and didn't know about carrying a new tube. Which could result in same problem if pinched anyways. With a 650 I don't mind carrying some extra weight. So I now have the triple redundancy for trail side air. A hand pump that can get about 14 psi into a d606, good enough to get out of trouble. It also accepts CO2 cartridges which may bump up the psi another 6. Then there is the stripped down mini 12V air pump. Bottom line is I wouldn't rely on CO2 alone, can take three to four cartridges per flat.

Just get a nice light and compact bicycle pump. Served me well for 3 months in Central America. More effort but they don't break or run out of juice.

The best is just a hand bicycle pump. Never lets you down and actually very lightweight even compared to 2 or 3 co2 bottles.

Resurrecting this thread, as both my pumps (electric and hand) now need replacement.

Gotta be dirt worthy:
- my now defunct hand pump (http://www.lezyne.com/product-hpumps-hv-gaugedrivehv.php#.Va8Q8RNVikp), had decent pressure, but the shaft was attached to the handle, and has since broke.
- my airman electric pump (http://www.my-airman.com/product/tire-repair-solutions/easy-rider) was decent, but is wheezing in its later years, and now cant push past 25 PSI.

Experiences welcomes, recommendations appreciated - thanks !

Thanks North - but a definite prerequisite is a hose, as I've found these to be considerably more flexible and durable than the pumps without them. Easier to reach the valve, easier to attach, etc...

You are right. Now that I think about it. After I bought it, I thought that a pump with a hose would have been the way to go.

I just went and bought another aluminum bodied hand pump from the granola chompin' mountain bike shop, cause some crackhead little piece o chit broke into my truck and stole my camelbak( brand new one of course) with my pump, and beloved ktm alloy tire levers a couple of weeks ago. i got the same pump, the spritzinegel ? ( i'll get the brand name and post it up) brand because it works so well and is as reliable as a round rock. It has a flexi stye tube that pulls out of one end ,so it's a breeze to get at the schrader valve no matter where it is on the rim.co2 cartridges are fast and convenient, but if you have 2 cartridges with you and you need 4 of them in a day, well yur still walking in dirt bike boots, swatting fly's and grumbling to your self as to why you did not get that good old faithful hand pump that you heard about from cactusreid
ps; yes i replaced the alloy levers as well, cause if you want to mount a new tire or patch one trailside and get it back on with one lever and almost zero chance of pinching the tube when your putting it back on- these are what you need. oh and they are about 30% less than they were priced a few years ago?

i'll check mr rocket man or can i call you cam and i'll post up the brand, as i purposely bought the same brand because it worked so well for me. and yes go to spoke n motion in kamloops as they are good people that know their stuff about blowing air, and they think we dirtbikers are just some weird old dudes that show up once in a while!

good call uncle' , that little flip out foot and hose attachment are worth their weight , makes pumping way easier than holding the thing in your hands for 400 - 500 strokes .

mine is a TERMINATEAIR HV. black and silver aluminum housing with a 6 in flex line that you pull out of one end.
thumbs up approval from Cactus Reid, for what that's worth.
