Heidenau K60 Scout vs Shinko e 700?

Hi All,

Looking for thoughts from folks experienced with the above tires.
My '06 F650GS came on Heidenau's, but the rear was pretty pooched from day one (the front is in good shape).
Was going to just buy a replacement Heidenau for the rear but my shop recommended the Shinko e700 instead, given I'll be doing more pavement than dirt, at least to start with.
Shinko certainly seems like good bang for the buck given the low cost, but thought I'd solicit more opinions!
Thanks in advance,

Yarko

Second the Mitas E09 for true 50/50. I have been running the e07 for 80/20. I would get something that has at least some dirt cred.

Both these companies make great tires, but who know what the right tire for you is? I might have misunderstood your post, I though you were looking for alternatives to those tires?
Heidenau hope it is a good tire for the price

Hi Tom, the original post was looking to compare one vs the other, but I certainly invite other comparatives as well as jumping and waving "don't by tire X under any circumstances" type posts -I suspect the members here have thousands of miles on may different models.
And yeah, I'll develop my own preferences over time no doubt.
The Mitas you mention (E09) are marketed as a 20/80 on road/off road tire (according to their website), which is realistically too dirt centric for me -at least for the next little while.
I've got a lot of pavement to ride before I get anywhere particularly dirty.
That said, the e07 is marketed as 50/50 - but they don't seem to sell a Tube Type version, and my bike needs tubes.

Its OK to run a tube in a tube type tire, but not the other way around.

Would the Heidenau and/or Shinko not have dirt cred? (I'm new to dirt, so forgive the ignorance)

Yes, sorry you had mentioned getting something more street orientated and I was just saying to ensure you got something with good dirt characteristics..... never ridden the shinko e700 so cant say the mitas e07 first choice and then scout second choice for a 50/50 tire, anythingnthat is labelled 80 road and 20 dirt is not a dirt tire at all especially when wet.

My two cents
