Hey Chris,

How "close" are you hoping for? You are right to look at the VMC for a close-to-town riding spot. The VMC's club-property in Metchosin is great. Yes, I am a member, and can recommend joining... it is a great deal if you use the property or compete in any of their races/events. I also ride a Trials dirtbike (gasgas 300) and I have competed in their trials-events, when I had more time (before kids).

Ya, get rid of the death-wings, I haven't used them (never bought a new bike) but they sound terrible. I just put a Shinko 244 front on the DR, which is pretty cheap and has good reviews, we will see. I have 1500km on a Heidenau K60 rear, and am not impressed. The previous owner's Michelins seemed pretty good but were worn out when I got the bike.

I would be very interested in exploring out to Sooke on Saturday, except it is my wife's birthday, and we have plans.
What about Sunday? Not sure how much time I will have, maybe we could just ride the VMC property?

I've got these to put on, but I don't have a place that I can di it. I live in an apartment in Esquimalt and the parking lot is on a steep incline. I asked a friend from work about doing it at his place and now just have to organize it . I'm waiting for tire spoons to show up and them I'll get it done...
If you've got a couple of hours to spare on Sunday to ride at VMC I'd love to do that. Maybe we could meet at an sbux in Langford? My number is 250 361 5009 shoot me a text and we can work out the details.
Be happy, Chris

What I need is a place to practice skills. This drz is a lot more dirt bikey than my klr was. It's taller and although that's not much of an issue I've found myself in a couple of scrapes already. The lowered seat showed up yesterday and the last of the current round of farkles is that skid plate that's supposed to be here by the 29th.
It sounds like the vmc property is just what I've been dreaming about. It's tough to get into practice mode when you've just ridden 50km to get there. I haven't really found anyplace suitable yet either. Hope we can do Sunday.
Be happy, Chris

Hey Chris,

I think Sunday will work. I will text you later. But I also just recalled that the VMC property is 3/4 closed for the fire season. We can still ride there but we are only allowed up to the enduro-cross-track. We can probably still keep busy for an hour or so.
