ya,welcome back, from the dirt devil on an x mission, stuck in a cold white parrallel universe,,sniff...wimper [suP]snack[/suP][suP] [/suP]daddy will winter ever...ever...end?...1..i hate harleys,i guess i just don't get it,actually some of my friends have 'em.any harley guy who has a dirt bike, and i mean any kind of dirt bike in ANY state of dissrepair is a dirt bike brother in my books....2...the mighty, mighty maico 490 alpha control, this machine would make grown men weak in the knees[from attemting the wicked kickstart procedure]i remember starting dr.dopes 490 at iona with some people watching as the kickback[remember kickback?]hurtles the rubber thingy 100 feet away, and they go oooohhh.when it fired, everyone new.we called them open classers ,for ya young punks....2....the canam 370 in orange, that 2 smoke would plow through the secheld mud bogs that left mortal bikes stuck up to their top cooling fins.i was impressed, light, simple ,fast,it was the perfect woods bike...3...yamaha 175 enduro, this makes the list because it was my first legal bike, first intense riding ,chilliwack mountain, ubc endownment lands, first real road trips, van.island, van to kelowna via tullameen backroads, ran out of gas, lost my pack, almost went over the cliff near hope slide when a semi [empty flat boy]fishtailed and i road the shoulder to avoild annihilation, thinking back the bike had terrible suspension, died at a hint of moisture, broke down a lot,and i loved it cause it was the best thing i ever had.name your favourite ride, add it to the list [should be old]and i'll tell you if i rode it or liked it....over and out rodger doger 10 4,alfa charlie bravo.ghost rider o. t o. x.

I loved them all although some more than others:

Suzuki K10 80cc trail and street, Suzuki TS125, Ossa MAR, Saracen/Sachs 125, TL125 with Powroll Big Bore kit (remember them?), TA125 Yamaha (definitely NOT a dualsport), XR185, XR200, XR200R (x4), FT500 Ascot, CBX, XR250R twin carb, CR125, CR250, YZ250 (x2), KX250, Gas Gas JTR, Sherco 2.9 (x2) and of course my current favourite Sherco 4.5i.

HMMM, about 1 new toy every two years for as long as I can remember.

the venerable xr's...i love em...my funnest[is that a word?] adventure i had on an xr/xl was on the equator at ambalangota near hambanmantota.i goes to rent this dirtbike see,in the pile of 50's 80's and125's i sees my prize,an xl250.a big thumper by ceylon standards.no front brake, thats ok,horn works, crucial, not a drop of gas in the tank, alright thats how they make their money, tourist fills it up,it comes back, drain the tank, next.i haul out over to the "gas station"fuel in glass bottles, and my brown compadres roar with laughter"you fool" they says"you could have taken the other one, nobody takes that one it uses twice as much benzine..ha,ha,ha"never argue with a tamil tiger.roaring through the junge roads, keep left, keep left, keep left, rounding the corner at bc speeds,i've got a military jeep coming towards me on my right.on the left.....horrors....a herd of yak, with these long wide horns, like i saw in texas near the rio grande.rather than being empaled,i shoot in front of the oncoming military of onto the shoulder.as we in bc also know cattle on the trail are unpredictable.your loyal compadre from krakanmiasisitan.....director hugo fafael rodreugus signing out.....salutations everyone!

it is indeed my greatest pleasure,to be sure,to introduce to you my esteemed college and brother in arms, the astute emporer of crakinmyasistan ,herrn farnsworth crashalot.your highness, which bikes have pleasured you most greatly sire?{applause}thank you,you may get off your knees.a chrome tanked elsinor 250 was always dear to my heart of hearts .6 .why, why why you ask oh humble servant?yz!why zed 250"s used to rule the roost.i had the first year no shock,eh?,why its cleverly hidden under the tank, all that wieght way up high, are you kidding me?it will never work, all motorcycles will go back to 2 shocks of course, you'll see, history will prove me correct,i'm never wrong, just wait till 1981,you'll see.my kingdom in ruins, poorer than my pennieless paupers ,i bunged together a yz from available pieces, ugly ,so,so shamefully ugly, rock hard suspension with a deadly fast engine untill i ruined it all by modifing the expansion chamber.risking being banished forever to the outer regions of richmond,i assembled the troops sick, lame or lazy and graduated to a maico 250 alfa control.and here we end with the bike that i just knew for sure they could never make anything better, faster, cleaner, brighter, finer, more beautiful, better sounding,or better handling or flying...off to never never land...chancellor leopold tailspin morticay...ready & waiting to search & destroy lesser street cruisers.

"SO I SEZ TO THE GUY" further down the long and winding road that leads us to...captain wadsworth blogsalot on the xr250 somewhere between kambyrupitiya and angulugaha.plunging headlong through the jungle roads in the hot hot heat.a big smile and the occasional ya-hoo[a good "ya hoo"on any hi speed dirt road brings your quality of life meter up 3 points, try it says i}sahib has spoken to me saying"money going everyday down, and acha babba no hurry take it always easy man"so its time for a smoke break to calm down,i drive off onto a soft sandy beach overlooking the bay of bengal, the break has the opposing effect and makes me nervous instead, here in the middle of nowhere.whats that gdam buzzing sound?gotta go gotta go,start, drop the clutch, lurch, bike doesn't move, spin the wheel only digs deeper, wtf?it wasn't that soft.close inspection reveals a fishnet now completely entangling sprocket and wheel the rest firmly embedded deep in the sand.i am here literaly with only the t-shirt on my back and my wallet.then from nowhere a man jumps out brandishing a 2'long machete,i panic, the pirates have got me!!!this monster of a man swings his weapon above my head....i come back to reality as this fisherman{kid}hacks off the fishnet and i free the xr to the roadway.profusely thanking the growing crowd,i offer all i have{nothing}the wimmen are babbling on and on that i have to give him a ride, evidentaly he'd never been in a motor vehicle and didn't want a ride.we all forced him on{sans machete}i pull a good wheely and give er all the 250 can muster up through the gears, now it's his time to panic,i return him to the crowd,he gets off all wobbly legged like and the crowd does not stop laughing....a good day...from this lighthearted point my journey took a dark sinister twist for the worst,of near death and destruction and changed my life forever, but had nothing to do with bikes{only bombs, crashed planes, machine guns, porsches and monster waves, all bad} so you don't want to hear about that here, checkin out ,wadsworth falafalot esq.acha babba....go on... have an adventure
