Simon, good to see you're doing alright. I was keeping an eye on that ride on ADV and was shocked when I saw what ended up happening to you and your bike.

Glad to see you let the bike take the damage, and here's hoping the insurance works itself out.

Hi Travis

Thanks very much for the good wishes. Yeah, I think I was pretty lucky! I'm taking the bike into the shop today to see if their estimate jives with the one from the insurance company. It will be interesting to see.

Hope all is well with you.

Cheers

Ha black beast we missed you on that ride

Simons I'm glad your insurance is going for it. I did'ntthink it would be that high, I was thinking half of that when I saw it.

Not to hijack Simon's thread - I always fail to check this site on a Fri./Sat and miss all the fun rides. I've learnt my lesson. Need to get out more.

Where's the linky to the RR on ADV?

Turns out there was around $15,000 damage to my bike so they wrote it off completely. Luckily, insurance will pay for a replacement. Thanks to everyone who helped with information and advice.

Well, I'm waiting for the insurance company to send me the papers to sign. I then have to send them back and then wait for them to send me a cheque. Soooooo . . . it will probably be 1-2 weeks before I'm back on the road again. Not having a bike to ride really sucks! However, at least there is now light at the end of the tunnel.

You must be kidding!I did'nt think it was that bad to be a write off.see if you can buy it back from your insurance company.

The BMW dealer I took the bike to estimated there was around $15,000 worth of damage. Personally, I would feel safer on a new bike as opposed to a heavily damaged bike that had been repaired. At least the insurance company is coming to the party.

Yikes, I though your bike would be easily repairable.
Do you know what all was damaged?

Yeah, they gave me a 3 page list of the parts that were damaged. However, bear in mind that this was taking the bike back to "as new" condition.
