I realize this bikealready been eliminated by BAJAMANbut just a comment re tires. Very limited selection of 17" DOT knobbies on this continent. Lots in Europe. I went through this when I had a Kawasaki KLR250 which has a 17" rear wheel. Kenda 270 was it, I did find a real gnarly non-DOT that fit, also Kenda, forget the number. No longer have that bike.

She has the crf 150f now and loves it and it's DSed.The problem is with all the RUM issues we are starting to look for a legal bike for her.The bike that is the close's is the 230L,the only problem is she wanted something a little more high performance than a 230L..being 5'4 there are not alot of bikes that work for her.She likes signal track and doesn't want a tall bike that's going to fall over all the time. The WRE 125 would be perfect,if we could only get it.

We have a friend with a 09 klx and it's a very nice bike...just too tall.

bajaman, consider buying her a capable bike and then lowering it a couple inches. my wife rides a lowered drz that she can flat foot on and she is about 5'6". most of the good suspension tuners can drop a bike a couple of inches with some internal stoppers. just an option to toss around.

If the KLX is too tall...a lowered klx might work. What about the Super Sherpa? The seat heights close to 3inchs lower and 16lbs lighter then the KLX. I've never ridden it so I don't know what its like on single track...
The CRF230 is still lower and lighter. I consdiered moving up to the 230 from the 150, but figured something street legal was a better choice. Now that it is legal... Its a great option. The XT250 is low at 32" but heavy!

Good luck with the search.

I had a 2006 Super Suerpa, a very good bike with a better seat than the KLX; overall the KLX is much superior bike for very little extra $. I am seeing a lot of people that have been riding for years going to a KLX for their Duel Sport; good bang for your buck. I don’t know if there is lowering links for KLX and the seat can be rebuilt.
