KLR dead battery?

Hi.
We have a 2006 KLR and the battery just died on the trail today. Is this common with KLR's? I still have not figured out why it died as it started fine this morning. No wires are loose and the ignition was always off and did not lock the wheel so the tail light was not on. Water level looks fine in the battery too.
Any suggetions would be appreciated. Got home fine by bump starting it, but still a dissapointed that it just out right lost juice for no reason:shock:

my 99 klr is on it's second battery. if i had the problem you describe i'd lean towards a charging or defective battery issue. try hooking up a voltmeter to it and check the volts. if they are good it's probably a bad battery. if the volts don't come up you have a charging problem.

This sounds like a "Not your problem" problem. Under warranty, let Kawi worry about it. They have the diagnostic tools to figure it out.

I will try the voltmeter. I agree, since it is under warranty I should give it to the dealer I guess. At least I know now that the Kawa bump starts pretty easy.

Don't forget that one click too many when turning off the ignition and engaging the steering lock, puts the parking light on and the result is sometimes a dead battery. Easily done............Just for the record my battery didn't last too long in my 02KLR, when I purchased it from new. Sometimes they're just duff.
