KLR Sidecar Rig?

Greetings all!

I'm seriously considering adding a hack to my KLR. Dauntless Motors down in Washington did such a project for a guy somewhere in BC...a great dualsport Ural platform chair ona KLR650 that looks just fabulous.

So...anyone know who this fellow is? I'd love to chat with him and see what he has to say about the rig. Any help appreciated!

Cheers!

If you know someone who might be able to trace the licence plate, you might be able to talk to him...LOL

Just a thought...

I was thinking of that. I have a friend in the RCMP, I'll ask if he can run the plate with out getting in trouble (like fired!)

the Gost Rider is Murray Dochstader---[email protected]

He would be happy to talk or discuss the bike with anyone.

Murray was on the Baja Bus, that just came back from pre-riding the Baja 1000 course.

Wow, cool! Beers all around! You guys are the greatest! I'll getin touch withhim and pick his brain on the KLR rig. I had a Ural for several years, and always felt it was underpowered (Russian interpretation of an ancient BMW 650), but the KLR probably has the edge on both power and lighter weight. Plus, Murray's chair is undoubtedly much lighter than the Ural "classic" car. I sold the rig a couple of years back when my son (who uses a wheelchair) became too heavy for poor old dad to lift in and out of the chair. When I saw Murray's rig on the Dauntless website, I started getting ideasabout how easy it might be to modify it to allow wheelchair accessibility! The wheels are turning....

Thanks again, all! :hb:

I heard back from Murray, and he loves his KLR hack rig. He had some great, detailed feedback...very generous. It's looking really great! Think I'll pull the trigger on the thing....

Yeah, I've heard of a few folks putting all the controls over on the chair, so it's the PASSENGER that's astraddle the bike! Wouldn't that be an odd sensation! Of course, since my kid is only 10, I think I'll go ahead and drive the thing meself...I've seen how he drives on the video games....

I'll keep y'all posted. Thanks again for the assist!
