What options are there for replacing the front disk/rotor?
It's getting a little thin now. Could it be the EBC pads?
I've never found the standard front brake to be grossly inadequate (on or off road).

So what's out there, considering price Vs performance Vs life expectancy?
OEM (the same), pattern, oversize??? I looked at several websites now need some feedback if possible

I've had the oversize EBC rotor for over a year now without a hitch. 20,000km without any significant wear.Better feel than stock. Add steel braided lines for even more positive feel. stock rotors wear fast on new gen. KLR.

I put 320mm rotor and stainless lines on my bike and it made a huge difference. You get more brake with the big rotor but the biggest improvement is in feel/feedback/control - I can stop way better. The kit was about $200 so, the bang per buck ratio is pretty good.

The factory brake lines get a bit soft with age so adding stainless lines makes a difference too, especially if the bike is more than five (or so) years old.

I use regular "black" pads in the front and "green" pads rear.

I've got about 11km and two seasons on the kit and I wish I'd done it sooner.

Robert at http://mtrsports.com/store/index.html can set you up with the parts
