Knee Braces through Insurance???

Wanted to get some Leatt knee braces for riding and figured I might be able to get them covered through insurance. I have had some bad knee I juried over the years and my doc would have no problem writing me a prescription. Wondering if anyone has done so? I know I could get normal braces but wonder about moto specific ones. Insurance company might question the receipt from Holeshot!

Seem to remember there was always a Brace company at the motorcycle show promoting insurance coverage, but that was a while ago

Cheers

Tried to search, Knee, Brace, knee brace, insurance. Got nothing. Could you hook me up with a link? Maybe not searching properly.

Cheers

I got mine covered by insurance, I had sprained knee and my physio wrote referral for daily use due to injury.

There are ways to go about getting braces covered - you can get them pre-approved or just order, submit receipts + referral and hope insurance covers them and if they don't...return them. I went with latter solution and knowing that custom braces aren't much better, but are $2k per limb I think I "saved" insurance at least $1k and I got two braces rather than just one, sounds like win-win to me.

Important is that knee braces you choose should be approved medical devices like POD K8 2.0 (not sure about Leatt's and other brands - but they should have information on website): https://www.podactive.com/k8-carbon-knee-brace/

Everyone who owned K8s said that they are super comfortable and that has been the case for me so far, so I can only recommend them.

I bought them from the online store in Alberta and by the time they were ready to ship, insurance had approved claim.
