KTM 990/950 wheel replacement

After many "sporting" KMs, my beloved 990 is in need of new rims. I'm looking to replace the stock front (butter) rim with a 1.6", or 1.85" Excel or something similar.

Does anyone have:
- source for new or used front (21") rim (or entire wheel) to tide me over till I can afford a more robust replacement ?
- recommendations re local shops to properly lace up a new rim/spokes ?

I've scoured everywhere from eBay to Woodys, and while I've identified some options, wanted to see if there's anything locally.

I can't really help, as I was looking into this a year or 2 ago. I think the only thing I found was to get a rim sent up from Woody's and try and get someone local to lace it. That's where my plan fell apart....

I was talking to Colin at MX1 about a replacement for my 950 front rim and he had a few options. Best to email or call him directly.

FWIW,
I have re-laced more than a half-dozen rims. Not difficult - just requires patience / a sense of humour (and photos of the original pattern).
There are at least 3 guys in the LM who will then put in the final hour truing the new setup for $75-$100 (I can play middleman?)

Are you replacing spokes and nipples? If you can break the nipples free the job is very easy. PM me and I will give you the a b c. It can be done in an hour with a broom stick and two chairs.

I torque the spokes to 40 in lb at final true. If you make equal turns on the nipple truing happens automatically as long as you have anew rim and turn the nipples 1/4 each wheel revolution.

Woodys 1.85x21 is your answer.... They use a custom drill/nipple angle to use longer spokes and cross over one extra time
It isn't cheap but pay to do it once... Looks sexy too

I have completed this years survey program so I should be in town Sun, Mon, Tues. I have truing stand and tools standing by. Did you buy rim, nipples and spokes?

I've got a slightly used complete stock front...
those rims are poor at best... IMHO 1.65 is too narrow for that bike, I noticed the narrower wheel both off and on the road
That price include the stainless beef up too?
Mark, if you need a wheel that is possible for the screw, let me know
It is fubar but cold be hammered trued and balanced, as could yours is emagine... Changing the complete wheel was huge money but worth it, and if I was there again is a put the crap rear on the wall too
anodize rather than paint no matter what you do... It's a harder finnish
On my front they used a custom multi use beefy anodized hub

Scott, whats the condition of yer stock front ? Are you selling it ?
Might be worth having a quick change more road friendly spare (and save my knobbies) for tarmac trips.
