I picked up on 08 as well. It's still totally stock, at least for now!

What have you done to yours other than the exhaust? How does the bike go with the Hindle pipe?

Ya I sure love my 08 KLR.

I had an older model, and got the 08 last june.

The best thing i did was get rid of the junk tires, and gear it down a tooth up front, now its the perfect bike for me.

Oh ya, I alsocut the aluminum plug off the bottom of the carb, so I could richen it up a tad.

Way better throttle response now.

Enjoy the ride, and please do a report on the exhaust if you get a chance.

ya thats what i did too and pulled the snorkel out of the airbox. the exhaust i did before the carb and it made a huge difference, that big shit can they got on there robs so much power. you know how the power kind of drops off at about 6000rpm?

it doesnt do that with the hindle, its a steady pull from the bottom to redline. but its really loud , lol . i like it tho.

Mine pulls good still at about 6500 rpm, but by 7000 its out of oomph, so i shift at around 6500 if riding hard.

But i am very impressed by how much improvement was had by richening it up a bit.

And yes, i to removed the airbox snorkel.

Its geared to run over 160 kms/hour stock, and thats nuts for me, so i really like it a lot better since i geared it down, and i can still cruise along happily at 130 -140 kms/hr.

And its still able to do 160 kms/hr, its just turning over 7000 rpm now is all when its WOT.

The tires though are pure junk, i cannot say enough good things about the TKC80's i have on it now.

I really like the new skid plate i made for it as well, much better protection when bashing it over logs and rocks.

I made mine of aluminum.

I made 20 of them this winter, and have 6 left, if you care to buy one PM me.

As for the tires , they are the perfect on/offroad tire IMO.

Not too agressive to run fast on the pavement, as I can still drag a peg with them, and much better offroad.

I will see if i ghave a tire pic on this computer.

I am guessing from the wear I see so far, that the TKC80's will last 3to 4, ormore times as long as the stock tires.

In the pics i posted, those tires had about the same mileage on them the stock tires did when they were bald.

Well the front still had tread actually, but the rear was so bald by that mileage it was basically a drag racing slick.

THe front had tread left, but slid all over the place. Very poor handling.

The rear hooked up better than the front when new, but it was pretty well done by about 1500 kms, and bald as a babies butt by 1800kms.
