Almost ready for BAJA!
Had a cpl hours to kill yesterday so headed out for a "Street Weenie" ride. Picked up my tank bag andheaded to Cash Creek.
Tank bag holds about 12 beer when expanded up and 6-8 when 'zipped' short. Nice mounting via front strap arround steering head and adjustable straps at the back with clips that hook to one of the frame spars.
The windscreen comes off in about 5min, works prety good. Cuts the wind to just below the helmet chin guard. Clean air on the helmet so my head aint shak'n all over the place. She likes to cruze at 140 :clap:

Well it's been 22 days and 1500k. I figure about 500k of this is in the dirt.
Got my new Ralley Raid from RTR Performance, they threw it in with the bike along with a matching front. I hear this is the tire that works on the rear of this bike the best.
The old one sure looks sorry...but worked verry well for it's short life.
The bike has 3500k on it now. It has started to run prety crapy on the hi way. Alot of surging and a long lag in throttle responce when at speed, but would "catch" after holding the trottle open for about 3 seconds......verry un acceptable. On Sunday before we headed out riding I removed the 17 front sprocket and put on the 16t. Make a nice differance in the bush.
I've been waiting for the jet kit to show up at Alternate Cycle so I could get the carbs set up properly.
Well the kit came in so I droped the bike off last night and they worked on it all day.
New Jets, New WINGS:dr:, all the emision crap GONE!
The inserts are not in the pipes right now, I feel the note is too loud, bordering on ...dare I say Harlie !:hr:I was kinda embarrased riding through town home.Gunna install the first core and see how that goes, I think it will be just right.
When I picked up the bike another guy showed up with the exact bike, a 2008 completly stock...jetting , tires, pipes and sprockets.
He followed me out for a test. First thing I noticed was the sound, too loud for the street or bush.
2nd....imediate throttle responce, just what I was looking for.
Took it up to 175-180k and wow...it still pulls.:clap:
We stoped at a set of lights and I told the other fella to gat up to 80k and lets do a roll-on in top gear. So that's what we did.
I pulled away prety good..I was verry happy with that, I figure it was about 3 bike lengths in 500 feet. Money well spent:ted:
We got back to the shop and he asked if that was 5th gear like he indicated just before we throttled on. I said NO, that was 6th. He was quite impressed how I pulled away from him with him in 5th and me in 6th......me too
Yup....I think I'm really gunna like this bike.:ted:
Oh...and after riding you can hold your hands on the wings.....they work awsome.

Looks like it's time to 'Retire".
Got a dirt ride tomorrow and a DS ride Sunday....wish it was at the ORCA though.

Nice how the rear wheel comes off. 1 BIG aluminum nut , no kotter pin and no need to move the chain adjusters.
I let the Ralley Raid warm up beside the fire while I removed the old tire from the rim..
Poped one side off and removed the tube.
WHAT"S this ?! Looks like the spoke nuts are ready to puncture the tube, just like the thread I read on ADV!
Upon closer inspection I see that 8 spoke nuts are worn through the rubber tube protector. Crazzzy man. This is a heavy rubber ring and the nuts have gone right through it. Never saw that on any of my JAP bikes.:mad3:
I figure a few more rides and the tube would have been flat. Luckly this thing goes through back tires
Hard to see in this pic but since I had no DUCT Tape,so I used a sticky-backed rubber about 1/8th inch thick to cover the nuts , then re-installed the rubber ring.
Looks like I'm not gunna be able to touch the ground again:mad3:

Calgary noob here - been lurking on your great site for a while. I just have to say... that 950SE is the sexiest looking bike I have ever laid eyes on. It's what Ducati, Buell and Suzukishould have done with their V-twins... sure hope this isn't a one-shot deal from KTM. Would be nice to see more models like this from them in the future (naked big-bore dual sport bikes).

SO un done the tank a little to check the fans were pluged in and they were, fuse was good. Looked for the eng coolant temp sender and thought I found it on the engine and it was pluged in also.
Therw it back together and continued with the ride..just kept the speeds up a little.
When I got home I took the tank right off. Then I foind the coolant temp sender. It was in the rad...I had my mind in the automotive side with the senders in the block.
Ends up when they did the carbs he must have unpluged the sender and not pluged it back in:X
On to the Jetting.........:hr:
ON the pavement/fsr's I can get 150k to 10L fuel. ON Sunday ......90k and 11.5L:hr::hr:
I gotta build an extra tank for this thing...or ride with KLR's all the time.

Oh shit, so in other words us KLR guys have to ride slower than usual so the pumpkin can keep up.
Dorky has a BIGGER tank on his to, he can feed you between replacing the clutches and engine cases, and pullin it out of the trees.

SO I fugred this new bike is wired for pwr........420watts.
Time to install a 12volt outlet.
2 screwsremove the dash.
2 extra fuses under the seat, acc#1 un-switched and acc#2 key switched.
acc#1 orange/yellow is pos to ground with the key off.
Brown is ground.

Bought an all weather outlet from CDN Tire, about $10 or so .
I figured the left side would be the best spot for it. It's spring loaded cap is rubber sealed but I figure in the side stand in the rain there is less chance for water to het in.
Hogged out the side of the beazel.
Connected up the 2 wires, red to pos and blk to neg(brown wire) and re-assembled.
Should work prety good.
