Looking for riding buddies in the fraser valley

25 year old female. Used to roadbike for 5 years back in Germany. Had a beautiful Suzuki GSR650. Came to Canada a couple years ago and had a brake from riding while traveling through the country. Had to leave because of visa stuff for a month last year and went to Guatemala. Rented a DR650 and explored backroads. Broke my elbow first day, but kept on riding for 10 more. Loved it. Now settled in the Fraser Valley and just bought a little DR250 with an 350 engine. Out riding now 2-3 times a week. Mostly on my own cause buddies are deep into dirtbiking and I just got started on gravel, dirt and forest service roads. Fairly new to the whole dirt and dualsport scene and learning more every day. Equipment still kinda improvised but making it work. Looking for buddies to explore the area and also go on some overnight camping trips with.

Irene chein is on a wr250r and may be one of a great group of riding buddies, not a lot of gals in the group but we have some very good female riders and a lot of guys who think they ride well and are a pretty decent bunch too, well except for Tarin but we tolerate him ,)

Lol in all seriousness enjoy, I look forward to meeting you and your dr250/350 innthe fall when this dang achillies tendon is healed up.

Hi @vivian and welcome! If you're interested in a tour in/around the FSRs of Squamish, let me know. I'm up there often, and there's everything from FSR to single track up there.

Hello Vivian. I am also a new member, as of last about a week ago, and looking to connect with like-minded riders. I started exploring the trails in this area about a year ago, when I got my WR250R, and am looking to expand my areas of trails. I live in Hope, where there are lots of FSRs not too far away, which is what mostly I ride, though I do tend to look for the more challenging ones. I am not so much a single track rider, as I haven't developed the skills required for them, though I can ride the less challenging ones. I also ride a sport bike, a lot, been riding one type of bike or other for most of my life. I did grow up in the upper Fraser Valley so I know my way around a bit. If you are interested to meetup sometime, let me know. My name is Rob:)
Oh! I have a very good friend who did much the same as you. She comes from Germany also, for years rode a dual sport from Dortmund to Nice, and many places in between, her only transportation. Continued riding when she got to BC, though now she no longer rides a motorcycle but rides horses instead:)

I ride a small 230cc Honda DualSport and looking to explore new areas. I would stage mainly out of Chilliwack but can trailer elsewhere.

Welcome Vivian - you've come to a good place. Your experience mirrors that of many of us. Like you, I started on sportbikes and later in life discovered DS bikes. I wish I had earlier, as this activity is harder to get better at the older you start, but at your age, and with that kind of attitude, you'll do well. This group has some simply lovely people, many of whom were key in helping me start on my first dirt ever ride just over a decade ago.

There's great easy trails all to get a start on. I'm healing up from a small ankle injury from this weekend - but will let you know next time I'm headed out. I like the Chilliwack Lake/ Slesse Bench area, it's great for confidence building. I'm interested in pushing east to the Paleface and beyond - looks nice, and from the topo maps, the elevation gains don't look too gnarly. Chehalis Lake is also very pretty, as an alternative out in the Maple Ridge area. For a longer day ride, Harrison West to Tipella and back is a good fun ride that barring one steepish section is quite enjoyable.

Here's to crossing paths sometime soon!

Have you done the roads on either sides of Stave lake? Have you been up the Chehalis lake area or the Harrison lake east or west?
I am in Maple Ridge if you want a tour of those areas. Also retired so have some free time. Riding either my VStrom 650 or DT200. Depending on the days, I might be able to get my daughter in for a ride. She is new to the gravel experience.

Hi ejfranz, I have been reading the posts about Stave Lake. I am a new member and ride a CFR250L. Would be great to ride with someone who is familiar with the area.

Hi offwolder, New menber also and would like to join up with a rip through the FSR's of Squamish. Have a CFR250L that needs to get some km on it. Morning on weekdays are open for me. Looking forward to meeting local DS riders. Am in North Van.

Hi amigo, and thanks for asking. When I got back home and took my boot off, I had a lump on my talus roughly the size of an avocado cut in half. It peaked to maybe another 25% more volume before the icing took effect.

Over the last couple days, the swelling has largely subsided and instead, I’ve now got what looks like a violet and fuschia flower foot tattoo done by a 3-year old with ADD.

Icing and tensor bandages have helped, and I’ve got roughly 50% of my axial and rotational ranges of motion, so I’m not worried.

Yesterday evening I hopped on the bike to run an errand, and while it probably didn’t help the ankle per se, it sure felt good to get out of the house.

Hi, ejfranz. Looking to do some rides in the the Squamish area. Early next week looks to be nice weather. Poked around up there yesterday but would be more comfortable riding with others. I'm on a CFR250L.
