Looking for riding friends

Hello

I’m Steve. 35 year old local. I ride a 2020 Vstrom 650. Just looking to find some new freinds to ride with. I am a fairly experienced rider but I do mostly street riding at this point. I will do gravel roads but I still have to get some off-road tires because my stock streets aren’t knobby. Anyways when the weather warms up a bit more I’ll be putting insurance on so if anyone is looking for a riding freind I live in Whiterock.

Thanks

Steve

Hi Steve. I’m looking to meet up with riders on June 11 Saturday, zipping from comox valley to Prince George then up Dawson city for D2D. Just steady days of riding and gas stations. Camping gear packed. It’ll be fun for sure!, it’s a lot to expect from a friend with out a bike. But have heard from one it’s a great trip!! Sour toe cocktail for the 40th bday will be a must. I’ll be riding a ktm 690 No windshield, small tank with a couple rotopak and a homemade seat from foam shop..,shes a beauty now..ha! Let’s meet up around then if your up for partial trip, unless you have a couple weeks off let’s get out to the Dempster Hwy and beyond. Good on ya for checking around for riders. I can say my background is lots of riding from younger years now looking to get the bike on a long haul. I’ve only done 1 nighters in this recent bike to tofino and tahsis on Vancouver island. I have a baja trip planing for next year with a Buddy in place for sure to join. I understand if your seeking more off road riding and my planning is lots of road before the dirt.

Welcome Steve. I'm sure you'll find that fiend to ride with that you're searching for. Not sure about it's actually happening this year but the DSBC nubie ride is a stellar place to connect with riders from all parts of the big burg of Van. Nice to see a few new members showing up here on the old school side of DSBC.
welcome. Wayne

p.s. it's I before E except after C. (insert smiley face here)

Hi Steve. Don’t want to start a tyre thread but you don’t need knobs for gravel. A god 50/50 will take you a long way with confidence.

Ya I hear you there. Last late July I did the fsr from Harrison to Pemberton. The bike did fine and I was quite surprised at the grip from my street tires. I’m so used to dirtbike tires and the grip they get on the shale rock. But for hard pack the stock tires do alright. Thanks for the heads up on that.

The Dunlop Trailmax mission are a good compromise. If you want great off road traction then go with the Motoz Tractionator Adventure tires. I currently have the Dunlops on my 2015 Wee.

Hi Steve
I am planning on doing the D2D but catching it on the return from Alaska. Departing end of May and returning to the Cariboo directly after the D2D weekend. If that schedule works at all let me know.

Hey Steve,welcome to the group.
I am also a 2011 Vstrom owner and I ve been riding it extensively on road and gravel .The Strom is actually a very capable bike for the riding you want to do .I have been using the Metzler Karoo 3 on the back but once that is worn out I'll buy the Michelin Anakke Wild ( that is what I bought for the front ) .
The Metzler is OK but I'd like something more aggressive for gravel and mud without going with full knobby tire .
I don't have insured yet but I will at end of May .
You might want to go to our Facebook page ,that is where most people post the rides .

Thanks for the reply Enrico! Ya I am enjoying the bike so far and I only have about 5000km on it. Going to try and do a lot more riding this season. I will definitely keep you in mind when I am riding out chilliwack way. I will also check out the Facebook group.

Cheers
Steve
