Hey Randy!

My Husky 610 has a Metzler Karoo on the back and it is good on the highway and hardpack, but starts to show it's "dualsportness" on hillclimbs and loose stuff. I haven't tried mud, but I'm guessing it won't be too good as the tread pattern isnot aggresive enough to grab and throw the muck like it should.

I'm probably going to go with a Dunlop D606 next and see how she goes as the 610 likes to eat tires like crazy!

Cheers!:hb:

On my 450 Husaberg I tried some Pirelli Scorpion Proand they wereextremely good offroad, but wore down quite quickly on the pavement especially in the heat of summer in the valley. Michelin also made one called competition enduro or something that was great and lasted about the same. I think they call it a cross ac10 now or something like that. I'd bet the Metzlers are in the same league. Both of those had better traction than the 606 but they lasted half as long so.....

hay matt, thanks for the info, i have heard alot of good things about the dunlop 606! i have not seen them yet though.

bayner, how many kms did you get out of those scorpions pros? i want a tire that is 80% dirt, 20% road.

i liked my pirelli mt 21's and sounds like the scorpion pros are more what i want

thanks fellas later randy

I probably got 2000 kms out of the Scorpion rear. They are FIM approved, but may not be DOT. At any rate they were safe and predictable on the asphalt (dry or wet)but I'd rate them as a totally off road tire. These are the ones I'm speaking of:

This is the same Scorpion on the front of my 950SE.

Heavy bike so I keep it at 34psi(no dented rims that way).Have had them up to 180kph, has a slight wobble 50-80kph

2800k's

Gunna get rid of it prety soon....but it sure hooks up nice in the dirt.

The nobs are starting to sepotate:hr:

The matching rear lasted 1500k

i still have the maxxis it dirt tires on, i just take it easy on the roads. but i know it will melt of very soon.

thanks for all the info. it is good to hear what tires work and dont work with other riders.

thanks fellas

I think that 1500k on the back of Joker's SE means 3000k on the back of a 450 if you ride it mostly in the dirt. (Joker likes to throw rocks... Always. :X)

I'm going to put a Pirelli M-21 on the front. I really liked that one on the DR650.

Depending how much dirt/street you do be sure to check out the Kenda Trackmaster II's, definitely a 90/10 dirt/street tire though! Just put at set on my 450X and am loving them, hook up well, road ride is decent but with a slight wobble around 70Km/h (could be my rim) cant comment on wear yet but everyone I've talked to who has run them has loved em! Not too expensive either!

Randy,

I overpaid for them locally but It was a situation where I needed tires asap so what can you do... Taxes in at A local shop I was about $160... Online in a bunch of places im seeing them for as low as $40 USD for the front and $55 USD or so for the rear. Factor in shipping or find a place in WA...

First the hairline, now the memory...

You complained that the MT-21 wore funny. It cupped and also melted along the centre line.

Buy a TKC-80 for the front, Greg. That's what Claude & all the other cool kids have been satisfied with :hb:.

I think the cupping comes standard with all front knobies. One season should be ok, I was going 2 seasons on the DR's front.

What's this TKC80 ur talk'n bout?Maybe I'll check it out, but I seem to recall it's more street.

The hair line is not disappearing..it's just moving.Moving from the front to down the back:hr:

I'll move this thread a bit sideways.

Lots of riders on ADV seem to be happy with the Michelin Desert. I haven't tried them but the front looks interesting.

Dorky,

Loks like a cool tire.

Are you up to an EASY ride on saturday?

I cannot take a beatin yet, but would be up for a nice smoother type trail ride.

Or is there a new clutch in the KaTooM yet?

Glad your happy with your purchase... I bought the tires for dirt but I was really amazed at how well they work on the road for a full on knobbie.

When you get down here this summer let me know, we'll get out for a rip forsure!
