Just picked up this 2006 DRZ and wonder if there is anything vital that should be checked or changed? Any tricks to oil changes?
It has the full Yosh muffler, header, cams, ignition goes like stink. :f:
It has been jetted and seems to run good but I have not owned a drz before and I know some of you guys swear by them so...

Wow that is just what I was looking for! Half the fun of a new bike is learning about it. Thanks!

I would suggest doing the "free power mod" (where you run a wire directly to the battery from the regulator) It's explained properly on TTalk. This saved my battery.

Change the oil fairly frequently and learn how to check the level properly:

Wider pegs than stock......pure luxury...I'll never ride with skinny stock pegs again.

You already have the pipe and tank, so just ride that sucker!

Thanks guys, yes a full coverage skidplate is in the works. As well as some disk guards. Luckily it already has the scorpion rad guards.
Good call on the wide pegs, I am looking into that later! Also going to switch to black or yellow plastics to beat up in the bush.

check out seatconcepts.com, imo, a must do DRZ mod. Great service.
gearing:
15/47 (14/44) on road bias.
14/47 offroad bias.
another DRZ plus lots of aftermarket and fleabay parts, even in CDN.
yellow are the fastest thou :)

yup it is getting converted to yellow. I don't know what brand the carrier is as it only says good for 450lbs on it. I got it used for $100 last year. Extremely handy for easy low loading.

no sorry I meant the aluminium carrier that the bike is on not the rack on the bike. That would be one hell of a rack...
