Howdy folks, New member on here just saying hello. Live in Rupert, maybe run into some of you this year.

I have always had motorcycles and dirt bikes, but just discovered this site.my bike closest to a dirtbike is my KTM 950 Adventurer so still have to be careful about where i go with it.

But i would be up for trips up the Telkwa pass and Kitsault if there is rides planned.I have a friend from Smithers who did the ride over the pass last year on his 950 and said it was great fun. Looking forward to meeting other Adventurer tourers out there.:)

Welcome Tengai

As you've probably seen there's a bunch of us in Kitimat-Terrace & a couple in Rupert that we hear from but haven't seen (nudge, nudge) ...and Houston & Smithers

So far we've managed to avoid KTM's :Stir. Don't worry, we ride all-sorts (mostly KLRs)and I'm sure we can help you pick up the beast when you drop it! I haven't done the Telkwa but reports indicate that timing is important re: a couple of river crossings and an infamous "rock garden" to get through. I expect many of us will have plates on by early April but most trails have snow/ice until late May-early June so I'm sure there will be a few "road runs"just to escape & be on two wheels ...coffee in Rupert?

Stay in touch - less than 3 months to go.....

PS: Anyone off to the M/C show in Abottsford this weekend?

Welcome on board.

The Telkwa Pass is a must do for me this year. I have been yacking about it with one of my buddies and I am sure I can rally up lots of DS folk from the Bulkley Valley. I have done it on a quad, to just where we started to head to Terrace, but came back to the Telkwa side since that is where we launched the quads. It will be a hoot on a bike. That is if you don't mind having an old DR parked beside your KTM ;)

I agree to getting the bikes on the road for some two wheel fun before the trails open. There is some good low valley trails around Smithers that will be open soon if the weather keeps this way. There is barely any snow in Hazelton already.

Talk to you soon.

Jim

Thanks guys. BChunter,I have a riding buddy that lives in Smithers ,He also rides a KTM950. We are normally streetbike guys,But are trying to discover otherplaces to ride.

I am always open for benchracing in front of a cup of coffee,if you are coming this way, give me a holler. Usually i ride all year,But due to a Achilles tendon rupture,I am staring out the windown waiting.Hoping to get back in the saddle by april 1st.

Hoping to get together for some rides this year with you interior boys, And discover out of the way trails {950 Adventurer friendly}:hb:

If your buddy wants to hook up for a cup of coffee, just pm me and I can give you my number. I am always up for meeting fellow bikers.

I would love to see those KTM's in person. They are an impressive bike and I have only drooled over them on the internet.

There are a TON of trails around here for all levels of riders. From the valley bottom to the alpine, from logging roads to one track and winding through the pines. If you are coming this way with to ride with your buddy, let me know and I will be there like a dirty shirt. I usually ride with a crazy MoFo that has a WR 450 and is INSANE, and there are others on DRZ 400's, DR 650's, ect so we can ride on alot of different trails.

Take care and keep in touch.

That's because the moss here in Rupert makes for great camo! :hb:

Welcome to the forum both of you bchunter and tengai! It's great to have more riders in the NW. Tengai the problem you have is like bchunter suggests, the mod or admin haven't given you the green light yet. As for the Telkwa pass and Kitsault trips both are fun with the Kitsault being definitely an easy ride. The Kitsault ride needs pre-approval by the owner if you want to enter the townsite, which shouldn't be a problem. Also with a Kitsault trip, keep in mind that overnight camping there will be an option and something to consider as to when to go.

ME TOO! I'd like to check out Kitsault. I think I'd better get an aftermarket tank soon... :)

Yours pms might not work until you have 10 posts or something like that? Some other forums have that???

Kitsalt was a great ride, I had a little mishap but it was a good ride. Do not plan on doing it too early in the year. Our moderator will give you a good date to head in.

Thanks for the welcome. Kitsault is one ride that I would like to partake in for sure. I think that camping would be a great idea, just to break the day up and have some time for exploring and tooling in the boonies. I would love to check out the townsite. I have spent time in Aiyansh and the Cranberry area, but have never made it to Kitsault.

aldermere, if this ride does go and you and I can make it, we should ride there together or I might even just huck the bike in the truck and drive to Terrace, so there will be room for you if you want. Just a thought.

I think that one of the Terrace folk should start a thread on this ride with a doable time so that we can start to make it happen. I am super busy in the summer and need some good lead time if I am to get away for a couple of days. Let's get-er-done :bliss:
