Everyone is wearing backpacks...

What do you recommend to bring in the backpack?

water, camera?

You will find in my backpack the following items, in no paticular order

Tools to remove the front and rear wheels, these will be the same tools I use at home

tire irons 2

21 inch standard tube, the fold up small and will work for the rear

GSMRRadio

GPS

Small bottle of water (with all the beer i drink i dont need much water)

Some food, fruit, beef jerky, gum it all depends on what the plans are but there is alway something

bailing wire

tye wraps

Leatherman

Ribbon

Samurai Saw

Patch Kits

Small first aid kit ( I also recomend a first aid course)

AA batteries

tow strap

5 min epoxy

Camera (I have gone thrugh lots of them)

Cash ( you never know when the charge card wont work)

Sounds like a lot of stuff, but its not. I have never walked out from a ride.

This is a good item.
Are there any "rules" what channel / frequency should we use?

I think it would be useful if everybody would know it before an event.

Event organizers & sweepers generally operate on the same channel for obvious reasons, and a few of also use the 'scan' feature to pick up chatter during events.

Everyone else like yourself Lucky (riding with a buddy) should pick a channel for personal use.

You can get a kit similar to this one at most bicycle shops I usually carry 4 or 5 co2 cartridges with me.

or you can pick up a small aircompressor at Canadian Tire like this one.

On my 950 I carry both under the seat and on the DRZ I only carry the co2 system in my tool kit or in my backpack. I have never used these on my own bike, but I have helped out many other people with them.

It is also a good idea to see if it all works by doing a trial run in your driveway using only what you are carrying on your bike.

Have fun

I bought this very same pump last spring ... it broke just riding around in my tank bag. Make sure to check it often, and pack it in a layer of foam.

If somebody in a group knows the channel it's good. :)
Scan searches a channel for a valid transmission. If no such happens can't really make emergency call.

Motorcycle Overland Development will be at the ride (and on the ride) and I'll be bringing the final KLR 650 skid plate prototype...at long last. (pics to follow)

I'll also have the F800 GS skid plate and the tool box that mounts to both plates with me for those that would like to see them.
(by the way as per the post above the tool box conveniently holds my tools for the bike, a pump and a tube, keeping it all ready when I need it on all rides)

Last but not least I'll be bringin some treats for those that want to get some "trick or treating" in early. Much easier for you all to carry on the ride and easier for me than bringin a BBQ on my moto.

Drop by and say hi, check out the stuff and grab some candy!:hb:

Lookin forward to it...it's gonna be muddy!

Yea, I carry toilet paper and wipes too. Along with my Dualsport.....stuff.

I will mention pain killers too, but I know that falls under first aid which has been said already.
