No breaks is good news, but those bruises still hurt. I hope the road rash is at minimum.

Happy healing.

Approx. 2.5 km of old road needs to be cleared and .5 km of old growth.

I don't expect that it can be done in just one day, but the more that help the better ( old saying , many hands make light work)

By the looks of Cheeseburger's trak, we've done a bit more than half the road clearing and the finish line looks close. When are we back at it?

Heres to a speedy recovery Eric, although some of your discomfort may be due to the fun hike we had;).

Great turnout for the workparty, took a few pics.

Pre-ride.

On the trail

The grade in some areas is quite good. Enough room for a counterflow lane after trimming.

Taming a cross ditch.

And a few more pics.

Wow, I finally make it back to the site and get the unfortunate news that Eric had a mishap while riding. I sure hope that you get better fast and are able to come out and show the new trail who's boss!

Here is the GPX file for those that have asked.

I am working on a video of the day and hope to have it done soon.

Man my memory sucks major ass. I was looking at that area on Google Earth before you posted the GPS file & guesstimating where we were. I wasn't even close :?

Is the Sep 27 track correct or should we have been on Connector Route 2

When I viewed Kerry's gpx file I saw that we were working our way up what I call the north fork of the Lost Creek road which ends up in a clearcut. Finn has walked through to the old growth forestto the south east and far enough in to see the road network onthe Statlu side. He claims the going wasquiteeasy through the clearcut area.

I will post up the data I have later this evening so we can compare notes.

I am not too concerned as both roads end up in the same general area of clearcut and with the elevation we will gain using the north fork it might be a better route as we are above the major ravine which is visible on the south route.

We need to focus on creating a usable single track. No need to get fancy until we are through to the other side.

Makes sense. From the Google Earth view, the south route also seems to have a lot more road clearing to do before we get to the clearcut. I'm looking forward to the next work party.

So, the new trail will continue along the valley and and connect with the road on the map?

Here is a composite of three trips. The yellow line is the route cleared on Sunday.

Next to it is a track from a previous ride about a month ago. We turned around when the road became too overgrown.

The track on the right side of the map is from an exploration ride from Norrish Creek up to a landing above Statlu Creek. This landing is our destination.

There is one more spur road in the Lost Creek area I have attempted to locate with no success. Has anyone manage to locate it?

Huh. I thought I understood but now I'm confused. I was assuming that we were aiming to follow the red line through that pass and that there was a spur on the other side of the old growth that was waiting for us (google earth isn't terribly clear on that). But that's obviously not Statlu Landing; are you saying that instead we're going to try to follow something like the yellow line?

Maybe Finn can give us some input. I assumed the yellow line but your red line route looks a lot shorter. I didn't go up that spur on the Statlu side so can't say if it is passable but maybe it calls for a trip up there to see.

The road at the end of the yellow line is definitely passable.

This looks like an accurate plot of our route, although the satellite image looks distorted. (shot from the side and not straight down) The inserted test should read parked motorcycles here not trucks.

OTG I believe your track is in the valley to the north (Terepocki Creek)

Like an idiot, I shut off my gps at the landing where we parked the trucks. But I pencilled in what I think is a reasonable estimate of how far we were able to push today:

Oops, you're right. I went ahead and fixed the picture. And yeah, the view is definitely not from directly overhead, though north is still at the top.
