We need to set a date or it's not gonna happen! Pick a date Paul.

If all goes well, and we know it will, I will be bringing Dorothy home on the June 6/7 weekend.

The QCI ride is June 12/14.

We leave for Inuvik on June 20.

I'm heading East after that, although the date isn't fixed yet.

My calendar says that leaves us with two Saturdays, May 23rd and May 30th. My state of mind would be improved if we could have it before we leave for Inuvik, even though DrBike will be there to take care of any repairs :clap:for me.

If you need a bike to demo on, I'll make mineavailable . I need crash guards but I don't think that I can afford them right now. Would be willing to do the doo hickey before we head for Inuvik if you think it's adviseable.

wow what a machine, I do not have one of those.....I will soon have in my possession a static balance thingy as far as a bead breaker I was going to learn from you tube how to do it with a swiss army knife and a rock, they don't call me DR for nothing but if you got such a fine machine I am thinking we should come to your shop.

I am by far an expert and the only place I have raced was to the boys room after a longer than wanted ride :spl:

I find getting regular tubed tires easy enough to get off, I am sure the tubeless ones will be tough (er) but hopefully doable on the side of the road. I have to learn how to break the bead and re-seat it with the junk I pack.

Greg you pick the date, I have no life and will be glad to be home on the weekend you pick.

Do your doo, David has my tools but that is but a short while to get here and I go back and forth often, Dave can bring them with him or if he is not coming can dump them on the bus.

My doo spring was in two pieces, when I got around to changing it. I also noticed the bike was a lot smoother after it was done.Never did find the second part of the spring.

Can you afford not to put on crash guards? Just kidding?:hb:I am going to try to make some up for my KLR.

Being totally selfish is there any BMW riders out there who want to get together and show me the tricks involved in maintaining the BMW. I would like to watch someone adjust the valves and stuff.

Just did a trip to Hyder on the weekend and I have a rear tire, heated vest and heated grips to install on the DR and a tail-light install for a CRF230L that did it's first (very brief and unexpected) wheelie. Sunday's are good for me and I'll probably be attempting the work this week.

The Doo is done!

My first issue was I over-torqued the drain plug and crushedthe washer...the problem?...no spare:mad3:.

No issues removing the rotor bolt. Why? Had a spare! Engine Guard works great for holding the wrench.

Everything went back together no problem. Have a small oil leak from one of the bolts on the outer cover. I'll have to keep an eye on it; definitley don't want to over torque these.

While I was putting the starter gear and rotor back on, a buddy with a '08 came by to check on me. He is on the fence as to whether he needs to do the Doo. He ran his bike for me and I couldn't believe how quiet his was compared to mine.

Once the oil was in mine and I fired her up...the noise was gone; very noticable change.

Glad I did it. Time to :hb:.

Drbikes tools are availble; message me and I'll get them out to whoever needs them next.

All of my work was done last night but my shop's always open if anyone wants to have a beer and BS and do bike work. For those that have installed heated grips, I'm kinda curious.......the right bar gets nice and toasty but the left only seems to get lukewarm. Is that because of heat transfer to the metal handlebar on the left? I would think that a product like this would either work or not and they tie into the same power supply and ground. I've never had bar warmers before so it was a bit of a surprise to have a noticeable difference.

You are correct, apparently the left side transfers heat to the metal if you didn't insulate with some form of heat tape or other medium to act as an insulator. Your throttle tube acts as an insulator. I installed mine with heat tape on both, to insulate on the left and protect my throttle tube. However I failed to finish the task and chose to ride instead. I suspect I can get it done in June as I will be weekend riding prohibited, however I expect the same results. I'm also separating both grips with a 4 zone controller, 2 for grips and 2 for other hotties. Seeing as it is 29c in the house I might delay until late summer, so you'll have to wait for feedback. Sorry.
