Problems with my new 08 530 exc-r

I realize this is like a decade late but I too have a 530EXC (2010) and it ran like crap the first year I had it: stalled when hot, could NOT restart until it cooled down, also it ran hotter than hell. Then I did the mods described in this video:

The guys on this forum have it right when they say it's the jetting and anti-polution kit that is the issue, But this video very well done, very clear, shows you step by step how to do it, so I thought it was worth posting it. I followed the instuctions to the letter, its a whole new bike, sweeeet!!!! Starts great hot or cold, doesn't run hot anymore and lots more power, I didn't get it dyno-ed but i believe the "before and after" numbers in the video.

Also one more thing, when you do work on the bike that requires removing the gas tank, make sure you don't pinch the air hose from the gas cap when re-installing the gas tank. In the stock form that air hose runs from the cap down under the tank near the gas tank mounts and can be pinched between he tank and the mount, if the hose is pinched air will not get into the tank and the engine will eventually stall from fuel starvation.

I had a JD jetting kit installed which made big difference, but yes the Bike still runs hot. If I have time to start riding my 530 again I will look into this. I would have to find my JD kit box and see if they wrote down what jet was used, etc. But I do love my KTM, it's just pure Fun! Thanks for the infor SteelT.

Just checked my JD box and nothing is written down, but the 42 pilot jet is gone and what every the stock one was, I don't. I guess the Mechanic kept it, because it's not in the box.

The 165 main jet is there, but the 175 is gone. There is a 180, which is not listed in the kit parts.

So I guess I am running a 42 pilot and 175 main. Going by the video I should put the 165 main in, or get a 160. But I thought that running too lean caused the "running hot".
