Rear Shock

Big Booger

This past week I've had some issues with the stock rear shock on my 2008 KLR. I was going to give my kids a ride and thought I'd better crank up the pre-load on the rear shock, well 8 lbs. of torque and the adjuster broke, which I heard happens allot. :mad3:
The factory replacement is $1200.:shoot: so because I'm cheap,(not because I'm a KLR owner but I own a KLR because I'm cheap)I needed to find a reasonable replacement. The most reasonable is the progressive 420 but all distributors are sold out and back ordered. Orca run approaching soon.:spl:
I contacted Rick at Cogent Dynamics in North Carolina who personalizes their shocks for rider weight and style of riding. I'm 230lbs. and carry 30lbs of gear and am an aggressive type of rider.(so I'm told). He custom built my shock and mailed it the same day. Great customer service and the shock is still half the price of Kawasaki's and should out perform it by far.
Proof will be in the pudding, I'll let you know.
