I'm heading out on Saturday to check out some of the trails we'll be using for the Newbie ride. Anyone want to join in, should be an B, B+ easy day, do trails like milk run and dashboard 1.
Meet at the Tamihi Staging Area for 09:00?

I'm gonna check out my trials tire there on Saturday. We might cross paths. Think I'll make it out of the parking lot?

Sure. That should be easier than the punishment I received at McNutt last Saturday.
Familiar trails on an unfamiliar bike is probably what I should have started with...
Good for two hours - need to be cleaned-up & at an event in Coquitlam for 2pm.

Absolutely (as he grins evilly) The main road is virtually clear with just a few icy spots so shouldn't be bad. Having said that you do have good medical right?

No plate required...we're staying off road. Do need the liability insurance though.

Ya good to know about the plate and I get my PLI yearly - just got a text from a bud and we are going to check out my local Squamish trails for snow on Saturday but I'd like to hook up and ride Tamihi at some point :)

Recon mission ! Looking forward to your report

Man it monsoon rain last night, then turned into snow, then most of the snow that fell melted.

Then this morning it was sunny and I was positively optimistic about the lava flow trails BUT as I suspected there is still a crap load of snow and its going to be well into April before the lava flow trails are snow free and then maybe even longer for the cat lake trails. The FSRS might be snow free a bit earlier.

When I got back to my van, it then started monsoon raining, then hail and now it's sunny and actually feel's like spring :)

...with the amount of rain that fell today, I can't imagine it was "fun". :(
That is a distinct lack of imagination, Sir.
Tom & his cbr125 in the woods (in his van even) is worth the price of admission. Every. Time.
7 of us started out. In the rain but none of us were afraid of shrinking. No snow. Just enough blow-down on the trails for us to stop every 10 minutes or so & do a bit of work / tell stories. Puddles were deep but I didn't notice things being particularly slippery...
Might have to it all over again tomorrow.

Yes indeed. The Chilliwack "sunshine" was out in full force. The laughs were definitely worth the time. Lot better than sitting at home thinking about what could be. I'm going to sleep well knowing that the Newbie ride is that much closer to fruition!
