rotax valves

I had my 10k service done on the X challenge and they had to shim the intake valves.Has anyone else with this motor had to have this done so early in the life of the engine? thanks

Not to Hijak the thread ......

On my 950 they call for valve adjust at 10'000k. I just got it done at 3500k and there were 2 valves that were 0.002 to the tight side and the others were to the loose side.I think 10,000k is too long to waite. Many different things can happen during break in.

thanks, at least I now know it is reasonable to happen. the tech. said it was because the valves had seated in. May have been on the close tominimum clearancesetting when built.

That's unusual. We almost never have to adjust them. I put over 50,000KM on my Dakar motors and never needed to have any adjustments. Have you modified anything? i.e. could it be running a touch lean?
