silicone implants....

I have read somewhere on this site that it is possible to reduce the vibration in the bars on a KLR 650 by injecting them with silicone. Has anyone tried it? Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Yeah ...but everyone will be staring down at your bars when they talk to u .

I have heard of this before....don't see why it wouldn't work. The silicone would absorbe the vibration.

I also found the bar vibes to be bad.Unbearable after an hour of riding.I went a different route for a fix, more expensive but works very well.Manicsalamander makes heavy bar end weights (nearly a pound each) unlike the aluminum ones that are merely show.these combined with a softer set of grips has solved the problem.Do a google search on manicsalamander to see them.

Thanks, I think I may have a set of weights now that you mention it, I'll see if my wife remembers where she put them :). If I can't find them I'll look into the ones that you mentioned. It's hard to believe how well weights work. I used to ride an 1150 EFE with that had barweights. If one fell off you could barely ride the bike.

Thanks for the reply

Brian,

I had heard that you like the vibration from your bike ? Oh wait a minute that was a different bike with a vibration in a different area of the bike...

My brother-in-law just picked up his 08 klr...

I'm sure getting thirsty when are you coming over for a visit ?

I don't really miss the tank vibration of the old bike, it was a little too numbing. As far as stopping by, I usually wait until I know your at fire practice. Say hi to the wife for me.
