Sloquet / Harrison Camping

Hello all,

Am looking to do an overnight (1 x night) trip around the Harrison Lake area that looks something like this:

Day 1) Harrison West to Port Douglas - want to take some pictures of the old abandoned town for one of my kids' school projects. Backtrack West to explore the Hot Springs (if open/see question below) and camp somewhere around the North end of Harrison. Gas up at Tipella.

Day 2) Lilooet Lake East then double back to Tipella for gas, and continue south to Mystery Creek FSR access, going West to Chehalis Lake, and then south to #7 and home.

So questions are as follows:

1) Anyone know of available camping near the north end of Harrison (accessible from West side), near either Port Douglas or Sloquet? Sloquet springs website says campsidte is closed.
2) Notwithstanding Sloquet campsites themselves being closed, are the springs still accessible now?
3) Prefer not to do this as a solo - if this route and length appeals to anyone, am happy for the company. Dates are a bit variable, as am trying to sort out my kids' care and work arrangements. But almost certainly will be a Mon/Tue, such as 21/22 Sep, or 28/29 Sep.

But for now, big questions are around the points 1) and 2) - any insight is appreciated.

Many thanks!

Hello CM, I can help with a suggestion for camping. We overnighted on a logging road, great spot and lots of campfire wood. From the small parking area at the jetty into the lake at Port Douglas we drove back up the hill (not very far) look for a logging road to your right. Bit of ditch crossing from the road but doable. (Look for quad tracks, buddy made it on a 990) Sloquet was closed earlier this summer, may still be

Hi JM,

Thanks for the reply. In the end, I saw a small 2-day weather window this past Mon and Tue and jumped on it. I had a later start than planned, and substituted a chance to slab into Merritt to visit a good friend instead of the original all-dirt plan for Tue, but was still a great overnight jaunt.

I took lots of pics and did a good recce of the north end of Lillooet Lake for future moto camping. Will post a RR in the appropriate section later today.

I ran out of time to find Sloquet but did visit Port Douglas, and I’d like to get a better sense of your campsite suggestion for the next visit. I took pics, maybe you can triangulate from those where your spot is in the ride report I’ll do later.

@cabinfever-thanks for the chime in. I’ll look at next week and see what if any options I have.

Thanks! See you around soon and stay tune for the RR later today.
