Sometimes easy Reving and sometime not

Since we have 2 exact same bikes, KLR 06 with close mileage, we can compare. One of the things we noticed is that on any given day, one bike will feel more "revy" than the other one...and then on another day visa versa. Everything is stock in the engine except both had the doohickey done. Anybody have any thoughts? We even thought it may the airfilters so we changed both at the same time but both bikes still responded opposite. Sure is nice the days the motor revs quickly and loosely. Feels like it should and then some days like today, my bike feels like it is not getting enough air and feels kind of spungy.

Wow, that makes sense and I just remembered that I gased up at Mohawk down the street last time. It must be Shell where I gas that has the better stuff. That is the one thing we do different. We always gas up at
different times and different stations. Geez Joker, you should win some type of award for hitting it right on the nail:clap: Have you noticed any difference bewtween
87, 89 or 91 octane?

Thanks again for your help.

Only if it is hot out and on the slow single trak stuff.....but only cuz theres less chance of pre-ignition, no hp gain.

Well, I should not make a fool of myself, but I don't want to mislead anyone reading this thread. The Chevron gas helped regain some guts and when I changed my air filter, all the power came back and more. I did not realize that one side of my filter was caked solid with dirt as I can't remember taking in so much dust:shock: It feels like a Ferrari now:hf: I changed the gas and oil, adjusted the throttle, idle, and balancer and it flies. Nothing like a zippy KLR to bring back the big smile. I raced a sports bike to the second stop light. He could have whipped me, but he missed a shift..lol

i've always run chevron, my best guess says go with a gas company that also refines the fuel. ie. esso, chevron. any other retailer buys crap gas from the refineries to sell us. kinda like generic, not all gas is created equal.
