Annual DSBC Spring Newbie Ride Sunday April 29, 2018 DETAILS.

Spring Newbie Ride details:

Date: SUNDAY APRIL 29, 2018

Location: TAMAHI STAGING AREA IN CHILLIWACK

Time: 8:00am SIGN-UP, COFFEE, SOCIAL

9:30am RIDERS' MEETING

10:00am LAST RIDER OUT

Route options:

The REAL NEWBIE OFF-ROAD ROUTE - This route is for the REAL dual sport Newbie. (the rider who is new to off-road riding) This route is going to be guided and is only about 14km long...and will depend on the experience level of those who are participating. Basically we're going to try and match you up with someone who is an experienced rider to follow you and help out with tips and tricks. We may change Bob's tire on the trail to show how that's done.

EZ ADVENTURE (C) ROUTE - Big Bike friendly. A good mix of pavement and EZ off-road (jeep trails and FSRs) This is a GPS Route. Judy (JaveJude) will provide more info on this route on another thread. Watch for it. The GPS Tracks have now been posted for this route on the EZ ADVENTURE "C" Route Details thread.

HARD (A/B) ROUTE - Those who have done this route know what to expect. The ride is about 50-60km long and should take in the neighborhood of 3 -4 hours. This route is going to be hard. No bikes over 600cc. Basically an intermediate dirt bike route. Knobbies are highly recommended. If you have 50/50 tires you'll be in for a long day. Most of the trail sections are short and lead back to FSRs so there are many outs.
These are preliminary details so watch this thread or another "Route Specific" thread for updated info as we work on putting this event together.

APRIL 29th 2018 at Tamihi Staging Area

Coffee and muffins (by donation) will be available in the morning. Come early and socialize and find a group to ride with.

A BBQ lunch will ready when you get back from which ever route you choose to go on.

You can also make a donation at the ride for Chilliwack Search and Rescue. These are the folks that will help you when something goes terribly wrong. DSBC has been a proud supporter of Chilliwack Search and Rescue and we value the work that they do.

"2018 Forest Fairies"
Some details ...
We are going to clean some trails to have a fun ride
It will be muddy
Probably wet
Hopefully sunny

What else do you want?
Ho we are going to ride our bikes from the staging area to the staging area!
It will be full of nice bike, that maybe you can touch if you're nice...

PS:
If you don't want to do the Adventure route, better to tape you're knuckle and install some new KNOBBIES
Stock DR 400 tires are a god plan for a very unpleasant day

This may sound crazy but where is the Tamihi staging area? Can't find anything here or online! Should be posted somewhere. I guess I should not have left it to last minute :(

The Tamahi Staging Area is in the Chilliwack River Valley.

Go down Chilliwack Lake Road towards Chilliwack Lake. Turn right onto the Liumchen Forest Service Road drive 1/2km down the gravel road and the Staging Area is on the left.

Go to Google and type "Tamahi Staging Area" Lots of info, maps and directions.

Very good ride. Arrowing was excellent. No confusion. All the work during the last few week was very obvious and appreciated. All trails were in terrific shape.

First time meeting up with the DSBC gang and it was an impressive gathering considering the rain that was coming down all weekend! Lots of various bikes of all sizes were represented and a few familiar faces as well. I was on a 990 Baja and got it good and dirty which was the plan! Judy did a great job with the food and BBQ. Most of the big bike ADV guys split off and did their own thing and by time I got back it was only me and 1 other that did the complete C ride! Hopefully we can keep the gang together next time. Looking forward to the next one!

I got some video from the first hard loop (east loop). I got off to a late start and passed a bunch of riders on the way around the Tamahi trails.
