stalling while braking

I have an XT600 and it runs fine but I've just been going down some steeper hills lately and I find that as I break (fairly strongly) downhill the bike is close to stalling. I shouldamend that 'runs fine' statement - I do think that the idle can be slightly uneven at times...Ive even thought maybe the carb was icing slightly. Through testing, I notice that even on flat ground if I brake abruptly I can stall the bike. I'm sure that the clutch is in while this is happening. I have searched around a bit and I'm thinking the carb float? Any advice? Thanks.

Yeah maybe the float level is too high and flooding the engine.:?

I think Joker's right. I had an XT 600 and a TT 600 years ago and had the same problems with the bike. After cleaning the primary carb ( i think your bike has 2 carbs?) and lowering the float a little, it ran fine. The idol had to be set to the recomended RPM which seemed a little high. Other problems I had was a broken clutch basket drive gear ( this is also to gear that the kick starter engages ) and ignition modual failures:hr:. Keep a lookout for spares. Good luck , Big.
