This will be an easy, but long, one day ride through some very scenic country.

We'll meet at Bruces Country Market (Corner of 240th St and the Lougheed Hwy) at 9:00AM and have breakfast there. After breaky we'll ride up the Lougheed to Hope where we'll top up the gas tanks. We'll ride up the Coq to the Coldwater exit and take the Coldwater road through Brookmere to the Coalmont FSR. We'll ride the Coalmont road through Tulameen and Coalmont to Princeton and then take the Hope Princeton back home.

This ride will be mostly on pavement with about 45 km of gravel road between Brookmere and Tulameen. An easy ride through some beautiful country and a great way to end the summer.

Please post up here if you are coming.

Hey John, Ballpark, what be your guess that we'd be back in The Ridge?

Talk soon.

Marty

Hi Marty,

I think a reasonable estimate would be some time between 5 and 6PM. Of course you never know with these rides. If we have unforeseen problems it could be later than that.

Hi John, this sounds like a decent ride for my un-farkled KLR to get thru her breakin.....

Hi Endo,

Yeah, this ride will be extremely big bike and newbie friendly so it would be ideal for breaking in a new KLR. I'm gonna be riding my CB500X with its new skid plate and brand new K73 tires so I won't be riding very hard until I get them scrubbed in.

See ya Sunday.

RE: K73 tires
John, would you please post up your thoughts on these tires after you've worn them in?
I'm thinking they may work well for larger bikes on 'dirty' pavement, gravel FSRs and even the odd easy-going single track.....without sacrificing street grip!

If you find this doable, then Thanks!

My farkles are en route. Crash bars, skid plate, heated grips, tires (going to try Michelin T63's), hand guards and wide foot pegs.

Glad to see you're getting a skid plate. We had to tow a KLR to Boston Bar from Kookipi pass a few months ago because the OEM skid plate is hopelessly inadequate and allowed a rock to smash the oil drain bolt out of the oil pan.

Just wondering how Gordon fixed that issue and how the bike is?
Might have to tag along for a while on your ride John. Have to see if I can find the time/sneak away!?

Hi Scott,

Gordon had to buy a new oil pan and, because the cylinder was scored, he had to get it re-bored so he put the 680 kit in it. He up-graded the pipe and re-jetted it. The bike is running fine now.

Hope you can make it on Sunday. Do you know how the Coalmont Saloon is for food? I was thinking about stopping there for a bite instead of in Princeton.

Got my vote
Never been there for food but you can lean the dirt bike up against the wall and have a pint so it can't be that bad??
What time and where are you passing this way?
Chevron in the wack or hope?

Hi Scott,

We're meeting at Bruce's Country Market at 9:00AM for breakfast and will be leaving 9:45 - 10:00AM. We'll be riding up the Lougheed to the Hope Chevron where we'll top up the gas and then up the Coq to the Coldwater exit. If you're coming from Cultus the best meet up place would probably be where hwy 9 connects with hwy7. Either that or you could meet us at the Horn of Plenty Esso Station in Agassiz, or at the Chevron in Hope. It will probably take us about 45 min to get from Bruce's to Agassiz, and about an hour to get to Hope.

Hi John
A good place is the store in Tulameen, it has gas, food booze

Ron

Thanks, Ron,

I've been to the Tulameen store lots of times. Nothing goes down better than one of their ice cream cones near the end of a hot and dusty ride but this time I thought I'd like to try something different. I've ridden past the saloon in Coalmont many times but never stopped there so I thought it might be interesting to give it a shot.

Hi Scott,

The only Chevron in Hope that I'm familiar with is on hwy 1 (Water Ave - by the river) between Fort St and Hudson Bay St. It is a Chevron/Town Pantry complex. I don't know where the Chevron on the route to #5 is and I can't find it on the map so to keep confusion to a minimum I'd prefer to meet with you at the one on hwy 1.
