Tail pack

what is a a good tail pack to get for the KLR? I have been using an aluminuim top box. It seems to be to much weight or bulk and it snapped the 6mm hex bolts that go down thru the rack into the sub frame. So looking for some thing lighter. Most or nearly all the riding is off road with this thing so it does get quite a bit bouncing around.

Thanks

I like using a Pelican 1500 case for my KLR's tailpack. They are completely waterproof, lockable, incredibly durable and have a lifetime warranty. And you can fit a LOT of stuff in there. I keep my registration/insurance, mapbook, spare tube, some small light tools, a folding stool, matches, etc. It's also flat so I can strap my sleeping bag or a dry bag of clothes on top for longer trips.

Re the 6mm bolts: I snapped mine too. they are made undersized and weak particularly when the two side bolts for the rack are allowed to get loose as the rack can then move and jar itself. Replacing them with something bigger and stronger is a must.

Not sure of the size you need, but lots of folks also like the Giant-Loop bags like the Great Basin.
