Tamahi Camping

Saw this info posted on Facebook today for camping at Tamahi:

New Camping Fees for 2018
Site fees are now $17.00 per night..1 vehicle allowed on site
Senior discounts are for BC residents only and all adults in the party must be 65 or over Fees are $8.50 No discounts on reservations or premium sites
... PWD must have the correct paperwork with the current year
Visitors are $10.00 and must leave the campground by 10:30
Walk in visitors, no fees unless the party on the site is over 6 persons then you will need a site permit of $17.00
Second vehicle is allowed no charge if you are coming in with a motorhome class A or C or truck and camper as long as the camper is not off-loaded
Tamihi Rapids, Tamihi Staging and Rapids Staging are now pack in pack out sites, there are no garbage bins in these sites


Since we use the Tamahi Staging Area PLEASE be extra diligent and take out whatever you bring in.

I thought the Tamil Staging area was a day use area with no fees?

So, if I was at the staging area and saw Ian (first member I thought of who has camped there) and went over to visit with him at his spot, I would now be a visitor and have to pay $10.00?

It's obvious that times are a changin. These new measures seem almost oppressive. As far as the Chilliwack Forest District, the times of Free Day Use is Over. This is also going to lead the Camp Host to believe that they are the enforcers of these new rules, this may lead to possible conflict ahead. I wonder what happened to the CRAG Chilliwack Recreation Advisory Group? Poorly rolled out with no consultation???

New fees and less services. That is a poor trade off in my book.

I also did ask for justification of the 13% raise (15 to 17) in camping fees a good month back but never got a reply...
