Alright DualsportBC, MOFLNRO has come through on the next step of the Tamihi work. The two new bridges are being delivered tomorrow to the campground for staging.

We will be looking for volunteers to help transport and install decking, date TBD but very shortly.

During talks this spring the club indicated we would assist in trying to secure 2x6 PT decking and fasteners, if you have any leads please message me. Details on required quantities and lengths will be available shortly. Due to the short notice from MOFLNRO we are under pressure on this as when they complete the bridges sturcture installation that main trail will not be rideable until we deck them.

Details will be added as they are known to us.

Wow. I'm a little out of touch on the plan. Are these bridges for the new connector path to get over to the other side instead of using the low road?

Here is the latest on the Tamihi Bridges Deck Installation for October 26 2019

Tamihi ORV Trails needs some Volunteers. DSBC has volunteered to install the Decking on two new ORV Bridges at Tamihi on the ORV Trails. We already have some volunteers but could use a few more, remember "many hands make light work" These are ORV bridges that dirt bikes, dual sports and small ATVs will use to access the trail systems. Both locations are accessible by adventure bikes. Will probably be very muddy.

We are sorry for the short notice, but we can only do what we can do as volunteers and we have to ask you guys (nicely) if you can help the Tamihi ORV trails out in its time of need.

No special skills needed other than you can work hard for free. Construction Skills would be an asset but not required.

Its going to be muddy around the bridges so make sure to wear appropriate work gear.

Broken Bridge location is easily accessible by a 2wd pu
Tamihi Connector Bridge requires quad or MC to get to and is about 1.5 kms walk from Broken Bridge.

Hoping to have a BBQ lunch at the job-site but will need to find volunteers for that too.

Come lend a hand, reconnect and contribute to the Tamihi trail system. Meet at Tamihi Staging. We will need to transport about 200 2x6 8' boards and some small power tools into the site. We are applying the decking for the two beautiful bridges being installed now. If you have battery powered impact drivers, drills and skill-sets bring them with you. More details to come as we have them.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide

Team Tamihi

I will be BBQing lunch for everyone on Saturday. So if you are reading this and you know you will be helping at Tamahi on Saturday please post a reply (if you haven't done so already here or on FB) so I know how much food I need to get.

On the menu will be smokies, water and fruit.

Its been a busy week fixing stuff on my RV, last time I was down the furnace and Fridge stopped working. furnace needed a new burner and that was a bit of a task as it is over 20 years old, but thanks to the great interweb and a RV forum site I found the right one for only 22 bucks. The Fridge (absorption type) needed to be "burped", yea I never heard of this before either, another great find on the great interweb. Something old school I am told. What you do is remove the fridge (not an easy job by yourself) turn it upside down for 24 hours then back upright and all should be good. Obviously you have to check if there is any signs of ammonia leaks first. Yes it worked.

So now I will be heading to Tamihi with the RV today to help out with the Bridge Decking project

See you guys Saturday Morning Oct 26 2019 9am

Great turnout of Volunteers, especially when you consider such short notice.

I took a quick run up to Broken Bridge Site to check out what the job looked like for Saturday

Nice level and secure.New Broken Bridge is using the old Broken Bridge abutments. Even with no deck there were tire marks from a quad trying to use the unfinished bridge.

The Chilliwack Recreational Officer supplied the bridges, this was due to noise complaints from residents in Bell Acres. Across the river from Bell Acres is the FSR used by various motorized groups which a few had rather loud pipes.
