Test Sycl company and CV4 Batteries

I would like to warn all riders and report about very poor warranty procedures, policy and response from Test SYCL company for CV4 batteries:

I purchased a battery in August 2011, received it by the first day of Spetember, the battery worked fine though not extremely powerful for my bike: KLX400R, 2003, used the bike during the season until the fall and stored the battery and the bike from the end of November until April.

These batteries are supposed to loose very little and do not require maintenance nor trickle charging as they do not like square wave chargers.

I tried to start in April, it did not work... I started the bike jumping with my car battery, the motorcycle started and we runned it for a couple of hours, few days later I had to go to Europe and left the motorcycle until my return in August.

Since my return we have not been able to keep a charge with this battery and I asked to send it back on the first day of September.... no more warranty, no shipping internationally all kind of bad answers and I called probably 5 times, never got anybody but a message and no returned call....

Please let me know about your experiences with this type of battery and how you keep these charged during the winter as in our neck of the woods there is too much snow to ride.

If all else fails read the instructions first

Did you check the batteries voltage first, before doing anything?
Damage can occur if the battery is discharged to under 4 volts or over 14.8 volts. (check your bikes charging system regularly)

You said you used a car battery to Jumpstart you bike, your instructions for charging the battery are clear, although it does not say you cant jumpstart, i would read that it does not include jumpstarting
1. Automotive type battery charger providing 5 amps for 15 minutes.
2. Do not use battery charges with a desulphate mode. They will damage battery.
3. Battery Tender™ or Battery Tender Jr.™ can be used to prevent accidental parasitic discharge due to a very small drain over long periods such as a digital clock.

Did you read your Warranty and understand it?

RETURNS AND WARRANTY INFORMATION:
Warranty: 1 year covering manufacturing defects only.

Warranty void if battery has been exposed to vehicle charging system malfunction causing permanent battery damage from over or under charge. Battery must never be allowed to charge over 14.8 Volts or drop below 9 Volts. Permanent damage will occur which will void warranty. Warranty does not cover physical damage, misuse, or improper charging. Sycl Batteries is not liable for any damage to either person or personal property resulting from the use of this product. If the battery is physically damaged in any way or the static voltage as delivered to Sycl Batteries is less than 9.0 Volts the claim will be denied. Sycl Batteries extends a warranty only to parts manufactured by Sycl Batteries.

Your post reads that you contacted the seller after the 1 year warranty period, regardless of when the problem started you have to tell the seller immediately

From what you have posted above, you wrecked you own battery by not following instructions not the fault of seller or manufacture

You may not like their service, but it looks to me like you are asking too much. I found all this information quickly and easily at the website

Sorry for the bad news:gaah:

This looses very little means sitting on the shelf with nothing connected. When in the bike there is a load, ever so little but still a draw.

Just my 2 cents worth.

It's well known that the dashboards on the DRZ / KLX 400'S draw down their batteries.

I appreciate your frustration after spending good money. Live & learn.

Congratulations on your first post after being a lurker for 3+ years!
