Bienvenidos a Mexico! Stopped in at Kiki's in San Felipe for a few days absorbing some sun and erasing memories of the long lingering winter back home in the Loops . Once thoroughly warmed up I headed south from felipe into the pouring rain where the brand new(ish) highway suffered recently suffered massive damage from a hurricane . I was stopped for awhile and was entertained while several groups were working together, (quite unsuccessfully), to get the semi up the muy muy greasy detour around a washed out bridge . After repeated offerings of pot and beer from the fella in the pick me up, i tired of the scene and casually but politely rode past . It wasnt until right now that I noticed what sure looks like a handgun jammed in the belt of that somewhat inebriated pick up passenger!

yes. greasy was the right word. buggah!!

Bahia de los Angeles , specifically Al's place. (motoged, a frequent Baja traveller in pic above/behind propeller) Bay of LA is a great place to visit and has the best shrimp tacos going.

the highway from the desert of baja outside of mexicali headed up to rumorosa in the mountains is in great shape and that shape is twisty! great fun and very scenic.

Hung out with Motoged for a few days along the coast south of ensenada in Cielito Lindo, the home of tooo many happy hour margs.

arrived in Valle de Trinidad on a wed. and woke in the morn for a parade. And lots of fresh hot tamales!

with Baja mud still caked on the boxes we're headed north again here way up in the mountains looking over towards borrego springs not terribly long after crossing back into the US.

23 days later the Pirelli Scorpion is done! Tire #2 will be the MotoZ Tractionator GPS . Which made me realize how utterly horrible the soft sided pirelli really was on a loaded for travel 990.. Glad its gone before the bulk of the dirt riding began. Ha! (and I thought it was just the margs making the bike wobble) . The front tire works pretty darn good . Really terrific service at Chaparral in San Bernadino, good enuf that it may be a regular stop on these trips where multiple tires are needed . Living in a moment of luxury I had them install the new tire , which was completed in quite literally minutes! Painful though as it was paying the 30% premium price for the tire, ouch, dont ask! (just like a Porsche, if you have to ask the price,, you cant afford it)

after departing
chapparal motorsports with new meat on the back this was the first stop along route 66. The very imaginative bottle forest with no-one there to explain, had plenty to see and was well worth the time spent to see it all,, if I did.
