Tire Irons

After the tire changing demonstration I tried Canadian Tire and Lordco for the Tire Irons that Tom and Ted were using. Would 5th Gear or Holeshot be the best bets?

Thanks - Dennis

These are the tire irons I like

Motion Pro

Here is the link to their page

http://www.motionpro.com/then go to tools and you will find all sorts of cool things. ask your local dealer to order for you

I also liked the KTM aluminum tire irons but they were very expensive

If I were to buy again it would be the Motion Pro T-6 Combo (look suspiciously like KTM except silver in colour)

thanks for the question

As far as stick on weights go. I found that lordco near coquitlam centre will sell a strip for $2.70. Now that's only that location.

I couldn't find them anywhere else including crappy tire.

All Lordco's have the stick on weights.

Ask for the "thick narrow ones", not the wide thin ones, they won't fit on a bike rim.

Lordco makes up prices as they go, I've gotten the exact same strips from $1.25 each to 2 bucks, depending when and who sells it to you. A really crappy business practice if you ask me.

Works good though, I bought a whole box so I wouldn't have to deal with the random pricing whenever I went in.

Shawndude, I use these. They're short but they work fine and they're easier to pack.

They are available at BBY Kawi at the same price listed on your link.

Same here, same tire irons and got them at Bby kawi as well. Easy to pack.

At $2.70 for the strip of weights, I guess I got ripped. Must be that "Chump" word I got tatooed on my forehead.:?

First report in using the Motion pro fanny pack irons. http://www.motionpro.com/motorcycle/tools/enduro_pro_tire_iron_set/

I just changed the tires in the driveway here, and I really really like these irons. The rounded tip is very nice for getting under the bead and the scalloped shape makes sure you don't slip and gives you good levarage even though the irons are short.

I have some very long tire irons here as well, but I found myself using the little Motion pro's most of the time, due to their handy shape.

Plus they weigh next to nothing, almost as light as the super expensive titanium sets.

Big thumbs up from meon this product.

Just an update on the short tire irons. I went back and bought longer ones. The short tire irons on a cold rear tire is like prying my kids hands off an xbox360 controller.

Except I can't imagine having a rear tire flat on the trail with short irons. I would be better off inflating the spare tube and using it as a life preserver to float down the river to Harrison.:? So I'm going to try and figure out a way to perm attach the long ones to the bike. Maybe wrap them and attach them to the handlebar cross bar. I saw one dsbc guy, sorry can't remember his name, that attached a hatchet to his engine. Very innovative and good for emergency clearing. Although one is usually weary about riding with a guy that has a hatchet attached to his engine. ;) Especially if his name is Johnny :mad3: and he is a caretaker at a remote resort hotel during the off season. Hey the angry smiley kinda looks like Jack Nickelson.
