TIre orientation

Hi all I am about to tackle my first tire change. Picked up dunlop D606 for the bike and I am getting ready to put them on, but I don't know which way to put the tire on the rim:?. I looked for a indicator on the tire itself to refer to thedirection that they should be mounted but couldn't find anything that I could make sense out of. Anyone out there got some advice ? Thanks in advance.

Bulldog,

Look for an --> (arrow) on the tire side wall. It my have a word like (front --> or Rear -->) in front of it. The head of the arrow shouldrotate in the direction the tire moves when moving forward and the (front or Rear) indicates the front or rear tire (some tires can be used as a front or rear tire). Note some manufactures take liberties on their artistic interpretations of an arrow . If there is no sign of an arrowthen the tire most likely has no preferred direction of rotation and the tire canbe mounted in any orientation. The other marking you should look out for is a colored dot on the tire. This colored dotindicates where the tire valve stem should line up with when mounting the tire. The tire will be easier to balance if the dot lines up with the valve stem. I have no specific knowledge of thatdunlope tire so I can only give generaltire mounting directions.:hb:

bull dog,

tire orientation dosen't matter on knobies. Especially on rear. Mount them to your hearts content. Usaally the 50/50 tires will have somekind of direction idicator, but the knowbies don't.

Some guy's including me will take the tire off half way trough the life and orient it the other way to get the knobs with the right angle for better grip. This is cheap I know, but I can take them on and off now in 10 minutes, and it's like you get a new tire again till the right angle on the knobs wear off.

I have dunlop 606 on the rear and I remeber they were a little tight mounting when cold. Use lots of lube. I just use windex.

The 606 front has a big arrow and lettering indicating 'ROTATION'. The rear doesn't seem to matter.
