Hey all, just trolling this to get an idea of which direction to go with it.
I have an ‘86 TLR200. Right now it is completely disassembled. Frame and other parts are cleaned down to bare metal. Fenders, side panels good, headlight shroud minor damage but serviceable.
Bike ran fine at time of disassembly. I have papers for it so could be street legal again.
Looking back, I probably should have just replaced chain/sprockets and left it alone but the bike has a story behind it so felt it deserved more.
Due to limited funds, plan A is to rebuild it on a shoestring budget: rattlecan paintjob, replace only what is necessary.
Plan B is to sell it as is/where is, as the bike is perfect for someone who wants to start a ground up restoration. Interested to know what the value might be.
Plan C, likely the most profitable, but most time/energy consuming, would be to part it out.
Have Clymer manual.
Full disclosure: the P/O modified the bike to run without a battery. Not sure what his motivation was, but I can assure the bike started and ran fine. I did have a plate on it in ‘03. Bike last ran in summer ‘18.
Would really like to ride it again, but thought at this point of its’ journey, it might be better off in the hands of someone who would put the time, energy and money that the project would require.
