Power was out for almost 12 hrs and unseasonably windy/cold. There was stuff everywhere so I'm testing attaching a pic from my laptop of this morning


You can "COPY IMAGE" from web site and paste directly as below

what's the size of those pics.? I can upload an under 4mb pic but cannot get a 4.9mb pic. to upload. resizing reqd.?

This is a 4.2 mb pic and it uploaded fine for me

5 mb no go for me too. let me check settings and retry

How big a picture do you think we need to be able to upload?

My normal pics from my phone are about 1.5MB but I normally use Infranview to resize/crop or just open and re save to about 200 kb before uploading on any site cus IMO I really can't tell the difference.

filterx - that's awesome.

Having ability to upload large files on site is great, at the same time it will affect how long it takes to load page. Lots of large images will slow things down for sure.

If we load pictures to the media gallery, then use bb code to link the picture to the post works well and pretty easy. but I am thinking it will be to hard to teach

because DSBC forum will never have millions of users or posts I am wondering if this is anything we have to worry about?

Using media gallery will not help much with large images and load time as far as I am concerned.

However there are paid plugins that could help us optimize images after the fact. That’s a option we could look into.

the second pana is over 7mb so I'd say thats pretty darn close. even if the odd one needs resizing in general that avg. pic. isn't 7mb.
