sweet wishing I could have been there!
Ted I have the popcorn ready (to watch the video)

Ron
Ps I'm getting better very week, but I will not be riding off road for a bit yet.

How are the bike repairs coming Ron? I'm sure you've thought of this but just in case you haven't I'd suggest that some crash bars for your cylinder heads would be a worthwhile purchase. Get well soon and let us know as soon as you're ready to ride.

Hi Pat, I've been thinking about doing a Pemberton run for quite some time now. That run is usually done as a loop returning via the sea to sky highway but I'm not very enthusiastic about doing that on a street legal dirt bike. I'd much rather ride up to Pemberton from the Sasquatch, have lunch in Pemberton and return the same way we came. If we keep the stops to a minimum and don't dilly dally around on the FSRs we should be able to make it to Pemberton in about 3 1/2 hours. Now would be a good time of the year to do this because all of the other long rides through mountain passes are still snowed in and we've got lots of good rides planned once the snow melts. How soon do you wanna go?

John I have read a lot of pors and cons for crash bars, Its when you hit rocks or roots that they will rip off the mounting bolts and do more damage. Its best not to go down. :) I have rescue tape along that I should be able to wrap around the leaks. I have use it before once on a sewer pipe that was leaking.
I'm hoping to go in on wednesday to pick up my suff.

Gas mileage - KLX450 on FSR

Gas mileage - KLX450 on FSR

FYI:
The 222 km trip drank 10.3 litres of high-test giving 21.6 km/litre or about 2.3 litre/hour. A previous, less scientific, test in mixed trail and road indicated approximately 2 litres/hour.

That sounds about right. I think we should avoid the long weekend (Sunday 22) because there will be too many partying 4WD types and assorted maniacs on the road. I'm going to the Hells Canyon street bike rally in Oregon 2nd weekend of June so I'd suggest either May 15, 29 or June 5. Ted and I are also going to be scouting out a trip to Savona sometime in the next few weeks so I'll need to check with him, but I think we're pretty flexible for that date. How do those dates sound to you?

That was a great days riding in the best weather possible
Looking forward to many more long rides. It was great meeting some old friends and making new contacts. Wesley is putting a video together (but that's delayed as he's off to Mexico tomorrow!) and I'll get some photo's up. I'd be in for a ride up to Pemberton, maybe camp over or motel and then ride back the next day.

We're going to be putting that ride together in the next few months. We'll be riding up west Harrison to Mount Currie, D'Arcy, Seton Hi-line to Lillooet where we'll spend the night. Next day we'll ride through Fountain Valley to Lytton, and then ride the Nicoamen FSR to Boston Bar, then cross over the river to the Nahatlatch FSR, then Kookipi to the East Harrison Main and end up at Harrison Hot Springs. The ride Chico and I are talking about is a one day ride up West Harrison to Pemberton and back the same way so if your looking for a long ride this one will be about 400 km, almost twice as far as we went yesterday.

Thanks for the photos, Lane, I'm really looking forward to the video.

Sounds good Pat, let's try for May 29 and if it's pouring rain we can postpone it for a week. Riding 400km in the rain isn't my idea of fun.

Count me in for the ride to Pemberton. I can make it work almost anytime, barring knee surgery.

I spent some time tonight going through the video. The hardest part is to render such a great day down to about 10 minutes or so. You are right John, there is something special about the first real ride of the season and this was it!

Great pictures Lane. I'm looking forward to seeing your video.

Ron, I hope you have a big bowl of popcorn ready. I looks like the video is gonna be about 12 minutes. I hope your recovery is coming along well.

That's great, Ted, I'll get it started with a new post.

How was your knee the day after Sunday's ride? Hope it didn't bother you too much. Knees are tricky and you can never be sure of how they're going to react. Do you have a date scheduled yet for the surgery?

The knee felt pretty good after I statred riding even though it really hurt when I left the house. The next day I felt it in my quads. That's because I have been getting zero exercise lately.

No date yet. I should have a better idea next week.

The Video!

The Video!

Here is the video of our ride. This ride was particularly good as it was the first warm, dry day in months. Watch it in HD if your video card will allow it.

Ron, get your popcorn machine out and enjoy!

Thanks for the video Ted, another one of your masterpieces. I can echo Lane's sentiments - I can't wait for the next ride either.
