Where to ride in Squamish

I was just wondering where the best place for trails in squamish is. I've heard there's trails similar to chipmunk and mcnutt up there, but I have no clue as to where they are. Does anybody have a good map they could post, or even a crappy map, or some good or bad directions. Hopefully heading up there next weekend and hoping to find the goods. Thanx for any info:hb: Jacob

Jacob,

I have been meaning to take the Hooligan out to Squamish for a while now. Wanted to go Yesterday but again ended on herling with the 450. I might be going next weekend, maybe we should hook up and I could show you some trails......?

What are you on and how long you wanna ride for?

I'm on a drz400s. I'd like to ride as long as my stock gas tank can take me. The only problem is my bikes not insured and my buddy with the truck is goin out of town. Speakin of which do you or anybody else have a cheap utility trailer that they want to sell. Doesn't matter the condition as long as the axle and frame is in good shape. I'm a welder fabricator so I can build to suit. Its just cheaper to start with something then build one from the ground up
Thanx Jacob

Hey Jacob, JZ/Starbucks has a great trailer for sale, I forget which thread he listed it in... $500.

Between you & Hoolie, please post up any plan you develop for next weekend; I'd like to invite myself!

I end up going to squamish a fair bit, as I live in North Van. Lots of FSR but most are out and back. Mamquam behind the chief, ashlu creek and elaho out the squamish valley. I went to cat lake a fair bit last summer. Seems to be a fair bit of MC action in that area. When there is no snow you can get right up to brohm ridge, spectacular views, but I was hitting snow into July last year. Cat lake is about 5 minutes past squamish. I will see if I can post some tracks of my trips.

I'dlike to hear about the riding areas around Squamish. I've been riding my DR many places between Chilliwack to Merritt over the years and North of Pemberton - Hurley Pass to Gun lake, but always looking for new adventures. You'll find me on the sales floor at Holeshot Racing in Langley (Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, KTM) and I'm creating a dual-sport corner in our showroom complete with laminated mapson the wall. Lots of new interest and sales in dual-sport recently.

I've got no problem getting maps (Nixon'sin Cloverdale) but need those that have been places to come down and mark them up with felt pens to show trails, closures, etc

Vanmixman,

I am actually arranging a "SDBA guide" for Saturday, problem seems that they are into more serious "dirt bike" stuff, any way they will be meeting us so we can share some info / ideas and do some riding....I think. They wanna know what we ride? (guess where this is going.....)

So, who is going and what do you ride?

(I'm easy, either the 640 or the 450)

I just got back from great ride in the Squamish area.

On the way back I had a chance to stop in at "No Limits" in Squamish. Great little shop.....

They tell me we might soon see a "supercross" track in Squamish, SDBA are in the process of getting land. They are selling raffle tickets for a PW50 (or 90?) to help cover costs. Squamish now have 3 dirt bike shops (for a small townthat's good) We should support them where possible. Squamish offer great riding....much closer than Herling.....! (and no PORT Bloody Mann to deal with on the way back)

:tup::tup::tup:

So, I had so much fun I am thinking of going back tomorrow......any one interested? I will again likely be at TH round 10am.
