Why do you use GPS?

It was the Map76 that was going for $169.99, I opted to pay moreand getthe 60Csx. Discover GPS has been in operation for awhile, but just opened a new retail outlet at 5489 Byrne Rd.(I have no affiliation with the store, so far just great service)

I felt that the Map76 would be adequate, but new I would be wanting more features as I learned more about using gps and alsothelimited internal memory(24Mb) of the Map76 steered me towards the 60csx.

so how much did you pay for the 60CSx then? have you played with it much yet?
how do you like it so far?

$349, played with it enough to do the basics but lots more to learn and love it so far.

Menus are easy to navigate, display properties/datafields customizable. Even surprised by length of AA battery life especially by turning off compass and avoiding backlight use(I do have the 12 volt cord but wanted to test AA battery usage).

Of course my results are subjective dueto my lack of experience with a GPS, but as a new user I found it usable right out of the box and can't wait to be able to give the tutorial on google map overlays on the screen of the 60csx.

This of course after buying a new computer and hundreds of dollars of extra software and a degree in computer science from some university

Is it possible to download a map from SDmicro to a computer?
I mean when you have a memory card with preloaded map. Can you attach the map to free MapSource application that comes with GSP?

Garmin says: Maps on microSD/SD cards cannot be copied or viewed on a computer.

So avoid to buy maps on a preloaded memory card if you want to use them on your computer also

Have somebody test drove GPS receiver in Downtown (Vancouver)?

Not sure what you're asking(re test draw?), just learning the GPS stuff. As for pre loaded media wether it be dvd's, cd's or sd cards some form of copyight protection is to beexpected.

Sorry for that, "test drove" aka tested.

"Copyright" is good, but really not convenient to have a map in a device and not be able to see it on a computer (my opinion).

Hi Lucky,

If you have a map DVD. You put in on your PC first. You can see the map. You than download what parts of the map you what on your GPS. I don't know what you do if your map is preloaded on your GPS.

My GPS worked fine in Downtown Vancouver.

Hi Rick,
I don't have map DVD, only sd memory card.

I tried in downtown Vancouver (a couple of streets). A result is not precise.
I'll try to post some pics.

I walked on Alexander st. No high-rise buildings (2-5 floors)
Note, that altitude is negative.

Here is no Downtown Vancouver.
Very wide streets with parks.
Real altitude definitely positive.
Real path - red color.
P.S. GPS device was in a pocket.

Just so I get this correct. The red path is the real path that you walked and the yellow path is the one that the GPS said you walked?

The eTrex Legend doesn't use the SiRF chipset so it isn't as sensitive as ones that do like the GPSMap 60Cx. As such it is more easily confused, takes longer to get a lock, and needs a better view of the sky.
