I have a 99 DR650 with 35'000k on it and wouldn't think twice about taking it on a long trip.

From new the only problem the DR650 model had was a leaking base gasket that would happen arround 10,000k, but that has been upgraded in 05 I think by the factory.

If ur gunna load it up, boost the rear shock pressure to 200psi and pre-load the rear spring a good inch.

Have a good trip.

I just checked ur map.

If u hang a left in PG and take hwy5 it is a more scenic route. And then u can stop here in Kamloops for a beer and BBQ :hb:

My 2001Dr650 has been reliable except for the non metallic base gasket. 39000 km with just oil and filters, sprocket n chains. For a long trip you must widen the seat. I widened it and have an AirHawk air pillow. Gloves should have gel in the palm to help with the vibes.

Some hiway pegs would be nice as well. I think Dual Star makes some. Yes they do. Another on my wish list.

Have a look at the 2007 DR650 manual about the break-in periot.
It might help you to plan your pit stop.

Your trip looks great. It would be cool to mount at video camera on the bike or helmet and make a movie.

Take care

Hey,

The DR650 will have no problem with your trip.

That said your arse might !! :mad3:You may want to consider a Corbin seat and IMS5 gal. tank. A worthwhile investment for the long road !! :mb:

Do your proper maintenance (don't forget the air filter!) and the bike won't let you down.
