2007 KTM 450 EXC with some goodies

I'm still waiting the arrival of my halogen X2. But based on the spec I don't expect any problems. My bike puts out about 90w AC (peak) to the headlight and tailight. The X2 draws 75wmax and a tailight bulb 5w. I have been running a 55/65w bulb as a headlight for a year, no problem. Only thing I'm gonna do is install a LED tailight bulb which only draws 1w. 2 pack from fleabay for $12.

Your EXC should have a very similar AC output to mine. However your wiring may be different. Can your headlight and tailight be on when the engine is off? Or is just that little parking light on?

You need to convert your power to DC that's why the new stator. Chances are you bike does not output enough power. I went through that problem when I first got the light. There wasn't even enough juice to fire it. The stator and DC conversion are a must. No special mods are required except for some tweaking of the wiring harness behind the headlight. They will supply you with a diagram of what to do when you tell them which bike you have though. They are super good at Trail Tech and were really helpful on the install. I think I was one of the first people in BC to have one and it was pretty sketchy instructions that I got but it was a pre-release so what can a guy expect. Glad I got it when our dollar was strong though that's for sure!

This is only required to run the HID version. The Halogen system doesn't need DC to operate.

North, your lights run onAC then. Check your owners manual forhow many watts your stock stator puts out. It should tell you both AC wattage and DC wattage.

For reference mine is 90w AC and 25w DC. The AC side powers the lights, the DC side charges the battery, powers the signal, horn, cooling fan.

If you got the $$$ to burn the HID set-up is sweet, and the stator conversion is fairly easy. I'm a cheapo, and I am worried about how bright HID's would be on the street.

Yes you're right, they are very bright on street. They told me that the smaller bulb was supposed to be the low beam, but it's actually more intense and nails people right in the eyes so I can changing the configuration around to have the large wide beam as my low beam. Oh footnote don't use the SICASS Racing bar switch with this light as each time you switch from low to high beam both lights shut off. I've emailed them and they say there's nothing wrong with the switch…of course. Their support is horrible!!!! Anyways stick with the stock switch and just put a kill switch in line so you can shut both off when not needed.

I just putthe X-2 HID light my 610 Husky. (I didn't have to do any mods.)I plan on testing it this weekend. If all goes well,I will get one for my 530.

I checked my KTM owner's maual to see what power my 530 stator was putting out, but I couldn't find anything on it. The Bike is street legal stock, so you would think it would have enough power.

what's water wetter? I mean what's wetter than water? lol
Are you having overheating issues? Have you removed emissions junk and put a rad fan on? Solves all problems. Also jet

i put on the fan kit . water wetter is sold at your local lordco store they say it cools 25% more than water it mixes with your regular collant seems to work . i have it in my trails bikes as well.

Ah probably same as Kool-aide that I use. Haven't had a problem since installing fan though. Have you removed emissions stuff? It's the biggest problem on our bikes making stall all the time even after only riding in bush for like 10 min.

i have taken all the emission stuff off. i really can't complain about anything on my bike they are really a great machine.i can't figure out why they do not sell the bike with a jet kit as they do not run very well with the stock jets.

Yeah they are probably jetted for sea level and they know everyone is going to be messing with it anyways depending where they live oh and then they'd have to charge another $500 probably! :mi:

That's a good question and one that I probably shouldn't attempt to answer with fear of looking like an amateur. Hopefully somebody else can answer that. I would think exhaust related though? Air box? :ted:

Saw a 450ktm stall out every time it hit a water hole...actually about 100 feet paqst the water it stalled out.

I even pulled it for 1 or 2 km's with the DR650..hehe was FUN !

Anyhooooo....

Problem ended up being a cracked sparkplug cap. Water got in and shorted out the wire to ground.
